The Baseball Thread.....

i honestly think this is most teams. there's simply not enough talent out there to be any better than that.

Yeah - but the Rockies at the beginning of the year had their best starting pitch staff top to bottom in team history, even with Jimenez sucking donkey balls. But the offense is MIA this season. In the bottom third of the league in team batting while playing in a very hitter friendly park. Now they lost De La Rosa for the season and Jimenez is showing no signs of returning to domination anytime soon. The other issue right now is Wiggington. When he plays every day for three or four days he starts to get his rhythm back at the plate and starts hitting decently again. But he is a liability in the field so he gets a couple days off so Lopez can strike out a bunch and play a slight better third base and Wiggy is back to hitting like crap. He needs to be an everyday player, not a platoon fill in at third and first. Bad signing by the Rockies at this point.

Wiggy has been in that role for his entire career. blame the Mets. Ty was a 2nd baseman and then they signed Kaz Matsui so he moved to 3rd. then they brought up David Wright and there was no room for him. he's bounced around between positions and playing time since.

If he was a little more solid defensively he would be an everyday player here since Stewart is sucking right now at the AAA level and my guess is out of here by the end of July. Lucky for the Rock the entire NL West is a bit bit weak now - especially since the Giants just lost half of their offense (Buster Posey) for a good chunk of time. Someone needs to start to turn it on for this team. They are too talented to suck this hard for much longer (you would think)....

again, having watched the Mets my entire life, yes, they really can suck this hard for the entire season.

I was at the Cubs/Pirates game on Sunday and saw a few people with Pirates caps and or jerseys so I guess they still have a few fans out there.

damn, i was hoping there was video.

i watched that press conference last night and it was superb. Collins took all the blame for his team's bad play while reinforcing that they sucked and will either play better or not be on the team. i haven't seen that kinda fight in a Mets manager since Bobby Valentine, though he was a much better politician. i may not like TC's on-field managerial style, but his clubhouse presence is a welcome change.

Jimenez was finally 'the man' last night. Complete game shutout. Struck out the last batter in the bottom of the ninth with a 98 MPH fastball. Good thing too because the Rocks offense was still MIA last night...

...I thought it was a great tirade...exactly what needed to be said. Thats something a coach SHOULD do...

it's a 180 shift from Jerry Manuel who would throw a player under the bus to the media and not even bother talking to them about something. Collins wears his heart on his sleeve, but he's straight up with his players. gotta respect that.
