Wood Fired Ovens

My old paddle is too wide, the thing us taking ages to heat up, I'm out of beer so drinking passion fruit flavoured alcopops, it's dark so I can't really see what I'm doing and I'm standing about in crocs, cargo shorts and a leather bomber jacket.

However, I have 2 amazing looking pizzas ready to go and I've had a nice smoke, all will be well
 
Trying again in a much more sober, yet less fashionable, state than last night.

I used briquettes which apparently is a big no no so that's maybe where I went wrong - I assumed them burning more uniform would be the way to go but the manual says it can choke up the vents.
 
Mostly a lurker here, but a pizza topic on a guitar forum!

Some pies from my Pizza Party oven. 63% hydration, Ischia culture, 24 our 48h ferment at 65F usually.

We've got beef going in the Foodi tonight but I'm going to make a bunch of dough and get the pizzas going again tomorrow and Sunday :thu:
 
I'm in! My wife ordered me an Ooni Fyra for my birthday! It's the newest one that uses pellets for the fuel. I'm stoked. Bought a digital scale so I can measure grams for my dough and an infrared thermometer to check oven temps.
Now it just has to ship. LET'S EAT SOME PIZZA!!! (eventually)

How you getting on with it?

We're using ours at least once a week. Still trying to nail the perfect dough.

Aldi are selling a big wood fired oven from tomorrow am. I think I'm going to try and get one - the fyra os a great bit of kit but i wish it was bigger.
 
Did you order one? I think I looked at something very similar when I was ordering mine.the only thing I'd say is their 10minute warm up time will be somewhat optimistic, I suspect it will be closer to 45 minutes from lighting the fire if it's like mine.

Aldi's warranty is good which is handy 3 years I think which is very good for something like that

I haven't yet. How much of a pain is getting the fire going? The ease and speed of using has wity the ooni is a winner.
 
Gratiitous pizza shot. New 62.5% hydration recipe and it was a dream to work with.

Moz, blue cheese, black pudding, onions,peppers and I added a drizzle of sriracha after the photo. Brilliant.

It's easy enough but you do have to chop some wood up in advance, then top the fire up a couple of times before you can cook with it. Then I just add a log after each pizza to keep it going while making the next one.
