Irbe was still a good goalie when he left the NHL but FAT Phil threatened to eat him one time and I don't think Arturs ever recovered from that traumatic experience.

Rangers tied it up last night. I was just starting to think that NY was done.

King Henrik making a big splash indeed...almost as big as Fat Phil doing a cannonball in a public pool.
 
After the Brian Burke era they finally got a few things right. The last time that they were on the right track was 1993. That was a great team.

though granted I've never had a Czech one and they are supposed to be the best.

I think both Ottawa and the Oil are done...they had leads (particularly the Oilers 2 away wins only to give it back). I could be wrong and in the case of Ottawa series both sides have simply held serve but they seem to be outmatched right now. Caps are finished, they needed to do what the Ducks did and could not. I'm liking the way Nashville is playing and seeing a different team win the cup wouldn't bother me too much. Really right now the only team that I don't care for is the Ducks, but that's a NorCal thing.
 
Without expansion into the states, hockey would still be a bush league. Actually watching some of the officiating lately I'm not sure if it isn't still a bush league.

#1 That wasn't charging. That was just good solid checking.

#2 I saw Crosby talking about the incident and by his statement, Ovechkin's high stick was just hockey. But NONE of the media are on the story. NONE. You can still see stories about how Ovechkin tried to take his head off...the slight contact of the stick on his helmet was the recoil of the stick after hitting his arm and then trying to go over Crosby...but who needs accuracy when it comes to stupid opinions?

#3 After 3 seasons with Washington, I don't think Trotts is the guy. Even though you could say that Fleury is killing Washington, a team needs a coach who can manage the team and keep tweaking the system(s). Boudreau had great success with the team in the regular season too. Trotts is the same IMO. Great regular seasons are not what hockey is about.

#4 Fat Phil is fat as ol fvk. With his playoff beard, he looks like a cross between an Ewok and Jabba The Hutt.
 
I have to admit.....Washington....yeah.......they're not NEARLY as good as I gave them credit for. No grit. No guts. No balls.

President's Trophy curse or what have you........they just CANNOT get it done.


No excuses anymore. Put up or shut up.

I see a complete overhaul of that team coming in the off-season.

COMPLETE overhaul, and that includes Ovechkin. A change of scenery would do that guy wonders.
