The Official Jack's Place 2017 NHL Thread!

Just got to see the clip of the Crosby hit. Crosby was falling, Niskanen's stick wasn't even chest high. It was unfortunate but not a penalty.
Agreed. I just watched it for the first time. I hope Crosby is ok.

Either way this goes, I think it's more fun to watch that the finals will be.

I used to play recreational hockey every Sunday for fun in a really laid-back adult league. For years. Stopped in 2013 when I got sick again, don't really miss it.

Your comment stating 'Don't really miss it'

Isn't that a strange phenomena???

Nah, it was (for me) all about the social aspect. I've never really loved playing winter sports, mainly because I hate cold, snow, and ice. But it was good fun exercise with friends, and it inevitably ended with good beer.

If I had to limit myself to one sport/athletic activity, it would be paddling or rowing. I'd go crazy if I couldn't get out on the water.

Indeed. I think many would like to see Crosby and team play against McDavid and team a couple of times before Crosby is done.

I have a feeling that he will be ok and will return before the playoffs are over.

Fucking Pens. The Caps just can't beat them.

Yep...they can't beat F!eury. He has been an all star for the series. I didn't watch any of their first series.

he pulled off a 3-save combo last night that was other-worldly.

Highlight reel stuff every night. Lots of times Martin Brodeur would have a lot of saves and the win but nothing worthy of highlights, more positional/technical saves. They all count but the point is that Fleury isn't just being successful based upon basics/fundamentals, he is pushing limits and using athletic ability, timing and reflexes. Stellar performances every night from him.

Yeah, the Hasek comparison last night was spot-on.

I didn't hear them say that but I consider Hasek the best goalie of his era. You won't find many people here say that because they mostly have such bad cases of homerism and Russian hating going on. When Hasek played in Buffalo, he had so many shots on him and they in the game every night because of him.

My favorite goalie ever, well, tied with THE LATVIAN WALL Aturs Irbe. :)

Seriously though, I'm quite sure that I have the world's most complete Irbe card collection. Seriously.

I was a huge fan of Irbe! I have many of his Red Army O-Pee-Chee rookie cards.
:thu:

He always looked great in red. :)
