Agreed. The team mentalities in American politics kill me. I remember in the Bush years I came to hate living in DC because the liberals went bonkers comparing Bush and evangelicals to Nazis and fascists, which was hardly true at the time. Then Obama could do no wrong. When it was exposed that he had allowed the NSA to illegally spy on millions of Americans, he did no wrong. When he allowed the military to commit war crimes by using drone strikes to kill first responders, he did no wrong. When he helped topple Quaddafi, turning Libya to shit, he did no wrong. His utterly inept handling of Syria? Did no wrong. And now they’re surprised to see Republicans acting like Trump does no wrong. Sigh…
Where to start with this one?
Bush absolutely WAS a disaster. Facist? Maybe. Nazi? No, but... he is responsible for the wholsale slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilian (Muslims) that perished during his illegal wars. Perhaps it's unfair to compare it to the Holocaust, but when a massive number of innocents are killed because of race, religion, or simply guilt by proxy due to geographical location of same... well.
Libya, Syria, Egypt etc, were all by products of the Bush wars, and inevitable due to the tyrannical dictators that every previous administration either ignored, or openly coddled. It would have happened regardless of who took over the white house in 2008.
Anti-abortion, anti-gay rights, anti-stem cell research, anti-science... just a few notable characteristics of Bush II. We're talking about a man and his administration that bankrupted the economy, sent thousands of American kids to their death, or to be maimed in bogus wars that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people, irrevocably destabilized an already unstable region, created ten fold the animosity against America by groups already Hell bent on our destruction. ISIS is a direct result of Bush II. Despite the fact that 19 of the 9/11 hijackers, and Osama himself were Saudi, despite the horrible atrocities committed against its own citizenry by the Saudi Leadership, he continued to coddle them... even flying a bunch of Saudi Princes to party it up at his ranch in Crawford just months after the attacks.
He stood among the rubble of the WTC and swore that the US would find those responsible and "bring them to justice" while stating clearly that any country who was found to be harboring these assholes was an enemy of the United States and would suffer the consequences.
Not only did he invade two countries that had nothing to do with it, but he played buddy buddy with fucking Pakistan when EVERYONE knew they were complicit, and that Bin Laden was being protected within their borders.
He unleashed a few drone strikes of his own... many of which were horrible disasters of bad intelligence. If he'd had access to the newer, more terrifying drones that Obama had, you bet your ass they'd have filled the skies over all the wrong places.
So, did the Liberals unfairly vilify Bush II?
Not even close. He should be answering to The Hague for his war crimes.
If anything, EVERYONE was far too easy on him.
