OMG Politics, I'm over it already.

states get 2 senators regardless of population or voter registration. why can't states get 6 representatives and that's it. no districts at all.

I would say there needs to be a system that addresses AK and RI having a smaller voice in the House compared to NY, TX, CA, FL, etc. The number of Reps need to be based on population, but the elimination of districting makes sense...

...except that the GOP knows that liberal urban and surrounding suburb populations will lean the vote away from them, so they'll never be on board. The Representatives need to be a voice of the various population centers, e.g.: rural, suburban, urban. Yet they also need to address the racial and socio-economic aspects of the population centers. It's way too easy for the politicians, especially the GOP, to play off of the urban vs. rural, white vs. whatever ethnicity will most incite your voter base, rich vs. poor, god-fearing vs. heathens, etc. These factors need to be mitigated so GOP candidates literally cannot continue to white wash their elections.

Jackson asked:

You've said the president stands by his tweets from Saturday morning that President Obama ordered this wiretap. You've also said the administration wants Congress — and let's be clear, you said he also found out this information — you've also said the president wants Congress to investigate. Some members of Congress, by the way, have asked the White House and asked the president to come forward with that information. So, bottom line: Why would the president want Congress to investigate for information he already has?

Spicer's response was:

I think there's a separation-of-powers aspect here, as I mentioned to Jonathan

So basically, Spicer suggests that Trump is asking for Congress to investigate something he knows about, but has to keep the information about Obama wiretapping him to himself, because it would be in violation of the separation of powers. But said information could be shared with the Justice Department, which is in the executive branch, as opposed to Congress, which is in the legislative branch.

People in Florida are excited as this is the first year where state level elections have new 'non gerrymandered' districts. The people voted to redraw the districts as essentially squares, with a few minor bumps and such to try to even out population densities, and the government was forced to do so. This is the first REAL elections in the state where parties didn't have gimme seats they couldn't lose.

I get all of that, but all of those reasons are bullshit and my 12 year old could take 15 minutes of her time and find proof that they are bullshit. I am talking a real reason that makes any sense.
The real reason is simple... "Hate".

The downtrodden, trailer park living, toothless, blue collar dude struggling to get by on shit wages and no benefits, hates everything and everyone that isn't an Anglo Saxon whitebread patriot, or who gets any kind of governmental assistance, or is gay, black, foreign, Muslim etc. They vote against their own interest simply to continue to repress those whom are already repressed. Yes, they buy into to the trickle down, job creator bullshit, and are happy to give corporate giants and fat cats huge tax breaks as long as them lazy welfare sponges keep getting the shaft.

It's all about hate. Pure and simple.

Stereotype much?

Not saying that doesn't happen, and no doubt far too frequently, but c'mon.

If anything that attitude only reaffirms beliefs "those people" may have about liberal stereotypes.

Interesting. I hope it works out, so other states can follow that example.

The Trump administration has come under fire for Attorney General Jeff Sessions failing to disclose his two meetings with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, though there is no evidence that the Trump campaign was discussed. There have been demands from top Democrats for Sessions to resign.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder arguably lied under oath about not signing an order that targeted Fox News reporter James Rosen — among other things. Even though there were calls for Holder to resign, he left office of his own volition.

How is that last sentence even a thing? And they wonder why some liberals feel mentally superior.

This drove me crazy during the Obama years. All the illegally wiretapping the USA? Drone strikes that wipe out dozens of civilians and poison our relations with the Muslim world? War crimes? Staff scandals? Civilians micromanaging military strategy? Only standing up for gay rights when donors cut him off? Don’t talk about it, only racists criticize Obama. And the media often played along. Trump’s brownshirts remember all of that and it just fuels their victimhood narratives.

There's a point to be made in both pieces: Calling DJT a shameless liar doesn't change anything w/r/t his indifference to the truth or his followers belief of what's fact vs fiction (if anything, it deepens their faith in him which is bad) and does not facilitate political progress. OTOH, it's pretty damn hard to ignore just how frequently & to what high degree DJT has put blatantly false statements intended to deceive out in public; which is the very definition of lying. A component of this issue that's ignored in those articles though is how this race to the bottom is encouraged by the medium of twitter and limited attention span of the fickle public.

Personally, I expect all politicians to use incomplete facts & data or non-factual statements to control public opinion to advance their agenda or slight the opposition's. DJT has provided an unprecedented number of proven dishonest statements & there has to be a line of when this becomes unacceptable for just about anyone besides the koolaid drinkers.

I think you missed the point of my posting that.

Obama did get press coverage from that, our we would have never heard of it. Most was Washington business as usual, the far left was about the only ones to criticise any war time things of course. The right thought he wasn't doing enough (of course).

it would cut down on the size of the congress and would force reps to either work it out or be kicked out in the next election.
leave it up to the votes as to who goes to washington to represent them.

Are you saying every state has 2 senators and 4 members in the house?

My dad wants to cut congress in half. Each state gets 1 senator and your number of people in the house is cut in half. Think of all of the money the taxpayers would save supporting all of the congressmen and their staffs.

i was saying 2 senators and 6 reps.

most of the time i would like to eliminate the senate all together. most times they're nothing but obstructionists and get in the way.
however, with this bunch and their agenda, i would prefer as much obstruction as possible.

but the elimination of districting makes sense...

Living in VA, I disagree. I've lived all over the state (NoVa, Blacksburg, Radford, Christiansburg, Locust Grove, Charlottesville) and each section of the state has different things they need from the government. They just need to draw the districts based on counties and leave them alone.
