hahahahahahahahahaha looks like carol got owned.

the bill is terrible. its going to be great to watch it die and stall all other legislation bc the republicans can't agree on a solution after 6 years of bickering. hardcore conservatives don't like that it gives people anything. moderate republicans are worried about losing voters who need medicaid.

i mean seriously... who knew this could be so complicated?

Decided to look into a post one of my friends reacted to entitled "Things Donald Trump is accused of that Obama did without all the media hype".

God help us, the blatant stupidity. They either spoke of things that Trump admittedly did (to the writers themselves) or did on camera for all to see. Then the levels of false equivalence are staggering...

Try this doozy:

4. Having an Attorney General Who Refused to Resign

The Trump administration has come under fire for Attorney General Jeff Sessions failing to disclose his two meetings with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, though there is no evidence that the Trump campaign was discussed. There have been demands from top Democrats for Sessions to resign.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder arguably lied under oath about not signing an order that targeted Fox News reporter James Rosen — among other things. Even though there were calls for Holder to resign, he left office of his own volition.

How is that last sentence even a thing? And they wonder why some liberals feel mentally superior.

I get all of that, but all of those reasons are bullshit and my 12 year old could take 15 minutes of her time and find proof that they are bullshit. I am talking a real reason that makes any sense.

They're dumb and can't be bothered to educate themselves, don't trust the education system (and all their overpaid teachers), and won't allow anyone to elucidate the issues? It's easier to live in their pathetic world of blissful ignorance where people aren't killing babies or taking away their guns.

if you really want to spin your head on who supports the gop and why.....try wrapping you head around the "log cabin republicans".
that absolutely defies any kind of reason.
it's like if drug dealers grabbed all their drugs and walked into a police department and said "here i am, arrest me."

I think the Dems should stop using the term "Obamacare" and go back to calling it the ACA. So many on the right hate Obama, so pulling his name away from it would be a good idea. In the mid terms, the Dems should campaign on fixing or revamping ACA.

Semantically, I don't think it's possible to untangle ACA w/ Obamacare at this point.

Republicans have too many masters with opposing agendas right now to really be able to sort out who to please w/ ACA reform or replacement. Who to serve...the Tea Party people, who demand it's repealed entirely? The insurance & pharma industry? Bob the plumber who is about to lose his ACA insurance? Medicade recipients? AARP memebers? This op-ed in the NYT touches on some of the ideological confusion in the GOP that is part of their problem w/ healthcare reform (plus an interesting Carter/Trump analogy).

Democrats are in the catbird seat right now; watching the Republicans set themselves on fire with this awful proposal. Why hand them a bucket of water?

This is where they live though. If you ever have a conversation with these folks, it's circular revolving around them buying the overt/outright lies of the GOP, tea party, conservatives, etc., false equivalencies, and their lack of intelligence/education. I tweaked that last one and added education, because of the staggering evidence that demonstrated the ability of the educated to have high levels of comprehension and understanding of almost everything (from basic language and math skills to the political issues that their government (their party and politicians, the GOP) would rather them not fully or clearly understand. So said tweak is based on the notion that some of these people might actually be intelligent, but have not been exposed to higher thinking, or raised/taught to think critically and be lifelong learners.

Are they victims of circumstance when destinies collide? Yeah crappy lyrics that I remembered, but from where...

Oh nos!

The '80s had some of the saddest, most vile, contrived, evil, middle-of-the-road, poor excuse for music ever.

Hey, it's the bassist that cussed us out for disturbing their meal.

I just saw a clip from Spicer's press conference and he used a visual of a large pile of paper (seven or eight inches high) being the ACA and a smaller pile (about an inch...maybe two) being the newly proposed plan. And that difference being government and complications...as opposed to details and specifics lacking in the crap GOP plan.

These people are pathetic, yet they can't lose in their districts. Gerrymandering needs to go away, or (more sensibly) simplified to squares/rectangles of equal population...none of the current build-your-own-constituent-polygon bullshit.

I don't understand why it cant be straight county line, maybe 2 or more counties depending on population.

yea.....there's no "cozyness" between dumpster and foreign governments....none at all. there's no profiting from his so-called presidency.....none at all.

"China already registered one trademark to the president, for Trump-branded construction services on Feb. 14, the result of a 10-year legal battle that turned in Trump's favor after he declared his candidacy."

"Dan Plane, a director at Simone IP Services, a Hong Kong intellectual property consultancy, said he had never seen so many applications approved so expeditiously.
"For all these marks to sail through so quickly and cleanly, with no similar marks, no identical marks, no issues with specifications - boy, it's weird," he said."

"Given the impact Trump's presidency could have on China, Plane said he would be "very, very surprised" if officials from the ruling Communist Party were not monitoring Trump's intellectual property interests.
"This is just way over your average trademark examiner's pay grade," he said."

I'm good with that too...just so the numbers are relatively clean and they aren't using a scalpel to finely carve a constituency that fits their agenda...generally those too docile to be bothered to focus on real issues, yet easily riled up over trivial moralities and minutia.

Each state defines it's own rules for defining districts but equal representation/population is one of the common standards that concept wouldn't meet (and contiguous would be nearly impossible in equal combination at something like the county level). It's really the demographics of the districts that become the problem so you need to address how to get a more politically equitable and diverse representation in each district.

states get 2 senators regardless of population or voter registration. why can't states get 6 representatives and that's it. no districts at all.

it would cut down on the size of the congress and would force reps to either work it out or be kicked out in the next election.
leave it up to the votes as to who goes to washington to represent them.
