No, its like all of their smarts are just in medicine. Send them to a grocery store with a list of things to buy and they may not make it back. It was really an odd experience. You expect them to be completely brilliant because they are world respected doctors, but get them to talk or think about anything outside of medicine, and they are lost.

Yep. I work with a bunch of PhD's, brilliant yet oh so separated from reality.

ACA: Requires individuals to carry insurance or be fined. This highly unpopular aspect of the law was intended to broaden the pool of consumers getting insurance, which gives insurance companies new customers and spreads costs.

HOUSE GOP PLAN: Gets rid of the tax penalties, eliminating the mandate for individuals and businesses. It would end the requirement that insurers cover 10 categories of “essential health benefits,” leaving such decisions to the states. In place of a mandate, it would impose a continuous coverage requirement in which an individual with a gap in coverage would face a 30 percent penalty on top of premiums.

So who gets the thirty percent penalty? Are they giving the insurance industry another handout?

Yes. Higher premiums, and then a penalty in addition to the increased premium.

@jp_nyc , @Help!I'maRock!

also...if you have to have continuous coverage to avoid a penalty, then if you wanted to switch providers, you would have to buy the 2nd coverage FIRST before you could cancel the other one.....so you'd have shell DOUBLE the $$ to keep from getting hit by the penalty. and IIRC the 30% penalty is for an entire year.

so the faker in chief keeps talking about making 'murica safer......and he decides to cut the coast guards budget by over a billion dollars. their entire budget is only 10 billion.
um.....DUH......they're the ones who protect our coast lines....you fucking loofah faced shit gibbon.

My brother was in the coast guard for 6 years. The shit that agency does is pretty staggering. The budget cuts are terrible. Where I live the coast guard is a massive force in stopping illegal immigrants from Haiti. You would think shitface would want fewer immigrants from Haiti.

I can't wait to see what he does with the CDC , NSF, and NIH budgets.

Ok, seriously. Fuck you, Ben Shapiro.

"The key component to Obamacare was always the nonsensical notion that government could force insurance companies to cover those with pre-existing conditions. This turns insurance companies into piggy banks rather than insurance companies – imagine a fire insurance company that allowed you to buy insurance after your house was on fire. That’s not an insurance company anymore."
