Wait...what?

Wouldn't that work the other way? Aren't you still amazed that a man as out of touch and seemingly without the requisite intelligence to be a doctor is a doctor?

No, its like all of their smarts are just in medicine. Send them to a grocery store with a list of things to buy and they may not make it back. It was really an odd experience. You expect them to be completely brilliant because they are world respected doctors, but get them to talk or think about anything outside of medicine, and they are lost.

So definitely put them in charge of important departments they have no real prior knowledge of.

I work at Georgetown University Medical Center as a librarian and work with physicians, medical students, nursing students, faculty, and researchers and have yet to run into a Ben Carson-esque entity. If anything I'm most impressed by the nurses...they know their shit cold and seem the most normal.

I think maybe the world renown type of folks might be more likely to be "off" or on the spectrum (at least some of them seem that way on tv and such). They would be more likely to have the myopic focus on nothing but medicine. Here, pretty much everyone seems to have a great work/life balance.

Don't get me wrong, most of them were well rounded, but there were a few that blew my mind they even finished an undergrad degree.

Surprisingly well-rounded given the amount of time they have to dedicate to studying, practice, and their endless continuing medical education as things are constantly changing and evolving. Keeping up the medical literature for a specialty can be darned near a full-time job were it not for the eventual review articles. I don't know how they do it, especially when you add the literal life and death pressure that can be a part of the job. Still can't figure out how Ben does it.

...and to get back on topic, Trump and his people (all of them) SUCK!

This is a satire, right?

“I wanted to, you know, I wanted to shake her, like I like to shake my wife, when every option in front of you is, you know, not possible. They’re all equally unattractive to you. Like when I ask her where to go to dinner, she says, ‘Anywhere,’ and I say, ‘Steak ‘n Shake,’ and she says, ‘Not Steak ‘n Shake.’"

and now the uber conservatives in congress are revolting over the new health care bill because it does not take ENOUGH away.

"But the legislation maintains many of the Affordable Care Act’s mandates and basic benefits, including prohibiting insurers from denying policies for pre-existing conditions or capping benefits in a year or a lifetime."

so the godamn republicans aren't satisfied that they aren't making the poor poorer and middle class into the upper poor.
it's only good if the health insurance industry makes tons and tons and tons more. anything less than that and the republicans are throwing a fit. what a BUNCH OF GREEDY FUCKING ASSHOLES.

Well, she wouldn't go to Steak and Shake and she wouldn't make me a sandwich so I had to show her who God put on this planet to be the head of the household in his stead. And believe me you, if G-O-D were here she wouldn't have gotten off with just a shakin'!

They want a full repeal. That's why they wanted to repeal it without a replacement. People forced them to have a replacement so they do, and of course it sucks because they hadn't thought about it for 8 years. This'll die in the Senate. We'll all be fucked no matter what passes. Because Single Payer isn't coming anytime soon on a national basis.
