1) did SCOTUS make same sex marriage the law of the land. YES OR NO.
2) is the couple legally married. YES OR NO.
3) does the law extend benefits to spouses of employees. YES OR NO.

its hard to lie every single day and not get caught. its only a matter of time.

although probably nothing will happen bc the dems are just too spineless. kellyanne broke several ethical regualtions hawking ivanka's products on air and nothing happened to her.

the bar is so low and people are just too stupid to care. one speech read from a teleprompter riddled with lies is all it takes to become presidential these days.

i dont even think the govt would be functioning right now if these things were happening under a hillary administration. it would be 24/7 congressional hearings and investigations and people would be losing their minds. trump just gets pass after pass for some reason.

TBH I think Conway's comment was made off the cuff & she probably wasn't aware she violated ethics rules when she made it. I don't think there's much ground to be gained by continuing to hound her on it. The fictitious BGM comments & overall loose connection with reality are more troubling to me.

Dems should really be pressing for further inquiry into the Russian contact with the various members of the new administration and how far up the chain of command knowledge/approval/direction goes. How Sessions hasn't recused himself from the matter is beyond me.

While I agree 100% with you that she made the comment off the cuff and wasn't aware she violated rules, that doesn't mean she shouldn't get some kind of punishment. I know I have gotten a speeding ticket when I honestly didn't know the speed limit of the street I was driving on, but when I told the cop that he didn't just let me go.

On the BGM, I don't think she knew that didn't happen. She is like so many of the republican masses, they hear something and think it is real and forward it to all of their friends. Only she is on TV and says it.

Reality is that the Dems have to pick and choose their battles given how little influence and power they have. I don't they they should waste it on her in this context

scotus didn't MAKE the law, they held that under the 4th & 14 amend's that differentiating between same sex marriage and hetro marriage is in fact discrimination, so they ordered that same sex has to be treated the same. the laws were already there, they were simply not being applied correctly.

anyway, that's neither here not there in the case i referenced. what i said about the laws already being there (yes or no), the plantiffs (repub layers) have no grounds to withhold benefits from a legally married spouse of a government employee. their argument shouldn't even be heard.

I don't see this going anywhere soon. The EU is busy with Brexit. And if Le Pen wins in France they'll be busy with that.
