I just e-mailed my congressman. Maybe I should snail-mail them too.
Dear Mr. Himes,
I am relatively new to Stamford, having moved up here from Atlanta, GA back in February of 2015 for a new job. Although I will always think of Atlanta as my home, I am happy to be living in a city and state that are largely not responsible for the travesty that was the election of Donald Trump to the office of President of the United States.
I don't consider myself a Democrat or a Republican. I do consider myself a sane and rational human being. It is for this reason that I implore you to hold fast and strong in your opposition to Donald Trump and his gross incompetence. I have never written to my representative before but this dangerous, incompetent man has in less than two weeks made Americans less safe at home and abroad. Not only should you hold Mr. Trump accountable, you should also call out your fellow Congressmen - especially decent Republicans and conservatives - to put party politics aside and to oppose this man and his agenda.
I trust that you will continue to fight the good fight against fear, hatred, lies (sorry, "alternative facts"), corruption, conflicts of interest, racism, misogyny, disdain for science, and a general lack of fitness for the highest office in the United States (and on Earth). The eyes of history (and the rest of the world) are upon us. We cannot allow America to forget herself. We cannot allow this two-bit wannabe dictator and his group of accomplices to achieve their goals. It is counter to everything that this country and her good-hearted people stand for.
Thank you.
