I think she should nominate Obama. That would be the best F you to folks blocking this one.

I don't think he'd go for it. He likes golf way too much and has so much money coming his way for speaking engagements, etc.

i don't think she could, he's not a judge and never has been. i think there's some resume requirements to get on SCOTUS.

Are there qualifications to be a Justice? Do you have to be a lawyer or attend law school to be a Supreme Court Justice?
The Constitution does not specify qualifications for Justices such as age, education, profession, or native-born citizenship. A Justice does not have to be a lawyer or a law school graduate, but all Justices have been trained in the law. Many of the 18th and 19th century Justices studied law under a mentor because there were few law schools in the country.

  • The last Justice to be appointed who did not attend any law school was James F. Byrnes (1941-1942). He did not graduate from high school and taught himself law, passing the bar at the age of 23.
  • Robert H. Jackson (1941-1954). While Jackson did not attend an undergraduate college, he did study law at Albany Law School in New York. At the time of his graduation, Jackson was only twenty years old and one of the requirements for a law degree was that students must be twenty-one years old. Thus rather than a law degree, Jackson was awarded with a "diploma of graduation." Twenty-nine years later, Albany Law School belatedly presented Jackson with a law degree noting his original graduating class of 1912.

ok.
but just TRY to get confirmed by congress WITHOUT a law degree and WITHOUT having been on at least a state court. not gonna happen, today.

Hill 'could' appoint Simon Cowell, but he'll never get in the door of SCOTUS.

Obama has a law degree from Harvard and was the editor of the Harvard Law Review and was a constitutional law professor at the University of Chicago. He probably wouldn't want it, but if Hillary wins and the Dems gain control in the midterms, he very well could get nominated for the next vacancy and be confirmed. Those are 2 ifs, but it isn't too far fetched.

if we're gonna have McConnell's head go boom, then we need to get about 10 or 15 more in there, starting with Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz.....well.....you get the idea.

Now, I know you guys mean it in jest, but let's lay off the blowing people up thing. Please. For discussion's sake.

Just to be clear, we aren't advocating blowing up Mitch McConnell, we are just saying that if the Senate had to confirm Barack Obama as a US Supreme Court justice, his blood pressure might well exceed the structural strength of his skull causing an explosion.

Oh I know that. But it started migrate into talk about well if we're blowing that guy up let's get these other guys. I am not offended or worried about it I just wanted to keep the controversial tread more h on task in the off topic discussion. Sorry to sound preachy and all that.

i wasn't advocating blowing people up. i was saying if we're going to have a situation that would cause Mcconnel to have blood pressure at 400 psi, then let's make sure the rest of them are there too.
