Unusual weather for us for a few days, snowstorms that come from the east - they normally come from the north/west if we have any at all. The media have dubbed it "The Beast from the East" thwap0 Anyway, a couple of days off work as no one can cope with 6 inches of snow :)

Very nice Hanglow, is that the cathedral I can see right in the background? Trying to work out where it's been shot from but drawing a blank.

Anyways, still getting the hang of how to shoot in manual with the Nikon and I've never properly shot in snow before so there was a lot of trial and error but I got some not bad shots:

EDIT - Scratch that, the files are too big to upload I'll see if I can get them from my FB album :embarrassed:

I suppose it's fitting that it's underexposed given I was over exposed drinking it in the hot tub last night :embarrassed:

Here's a shot of some fake orchids I took where I get my haircuts. I was using the telephoto lens from about 20 feet, and the light sources were flourescents up in the ceiling. I did it manual, not using the on camera flash trying to push the ISO.

This shot blows my mind because I let the camera do all the work. Full automatic, AF, plus the zoom lens out at 250mm. Get this.... hand held. I am damned impressed. Only thing I did in photoshop was to add a couple points of backlighting and a small bit of contrast boost.

Awesome. I've tried shooting the moon a lot and never had any luck apart from once (it actually just came up in my facebook anniversary feed) and I can't for the life of me say what I had the camera set at.

Sidenote: Took the Nikon to tonight's gig, not had a chance to check the photos yet and I don't think they're going to be on par with my usual ones since I knew the Canon inside out and had it primed for low level action shooting but the video is absolutely STUNNING.

My brother has the Canon 5D mkiii and he used it on a few gigs to make a new promo video then put it away and takes out his cheaper one but I might just keep using this. We were really the first 2 round here who started doing little video montages and now everyone is getting into it and even the camera phones could deceive the untrained eye but anyone looking at this quality of film will know it's a cut above what everyone else is doing.

The building in the background would be the main university building

The picture was taken from the flagpole in Queens Park .. It's probably the best viewpoint on the southside until you get out of the city to the Cathkin Braes. You can see Ben Lomond on a clear day from there, which I guess is about 35 miles away

I took this picture a few minutes ago in my backyard. There is a cloud blowing over the hill right now, so we have a cool fog thing going on. The sun was burning through as the ice melted on the tree. I thought it looked awesome so I grabbed the camera and took a few pics. I just ran auto-contrast and auto-tone in photoshop and converted it to black and white.

Ah, I'd assuming it was somewhere in the NW.

I'm up that way, I'm going to get up East Kilbride road / Dechmont when the weather picks up a bit and get some landscapes of the city.
