What Will You Not Miss At All About HC?

Young trolls. Cork sniffers. Cheap gear snobs. Brand snobs.

That nails it pretty much. For a long time, my big pet peeves in HCEG was the post count whores who tried and succeeded to become "Hall of Famer" (sic) in no time posting lame comments that were just pollution and nothing else. A few bright sparks managed to have high post count quickly while contributing tremendously to the forum but those were the exception.

All of the jack white fanboyism, an entire horde of guys who play in drop C and prefer high output active pickups and scooped mids, an entire horde of guys who prefer pics of radiohead over pics of babes, and an entire horde of people who appear to have no musical interests whatsoever

I have to admit that although I grew tired of the childish troll posts and the fact that "cheapie threads", "Gibson QC," and "Bugera" were the main thing that got attention, part of me became like the person watching a car crash unable to turn away. Also, I began to lurk more and post less.

And, I did enjoy the epic Gordon Freeman shark feeding frenzy with ponchos! It was completely childish, yet funny as hell!

I must admit, I'm not completely done with HC. I think I'll still lurk there and post occasionally. But, I really like the small town family vibe here so far. I don't mind that threads grow a little slower here. I should have come over here sooner! :thu:

I certainly won't miss that old dude who would constantly spam his lesson website and forum. :embarrassed:

thank god I got my 30k + posts in GJ

Let me tell you all a story... I once had this friend and he had a girlfriend. They dated for a nice period of time, years even, until finally things went to hell. This girl started treating him like shit, she wasn't who she used to be, and finally my friend couldn't take it anymore and left her. Then for the next 3 weeks, while out drinking or at a ball game or shooting hoops or working out or grocery shopping, the only thing my friend could talk about was his ex-girlfriend; how much of a bitch she was, how better off he was without her, how he's glad they broke up. He wouldn't talk about anything else. It became annoying after a few days.

I don't know why you should care about my friend, but I just wanted to share. I could really go for some tacos about now.

I can´t say that HC is/was a corksniffing community. Not if they are compared to lespaulforum. I thought my old Les Paul-SG 1961 was something to talk about there, but it was absolute shit according to their view.

I agree - the cheapo elitists. "Ha, you're an idiot for buying a Fender, this *x-brand* is ten times better for ten times less! It has a less attractive headstock and logo font, but it still plays better than your overpriced American Fender - and that's all that matters!"

Dude... a vast majority of my heroes played Fender Stratocasters. You think I'm going to go through my whole life with some cheapo cheap thing, whose brand name no-one has ever heard of?

I want a Fender Stratocaster, god-damn it. Wouldn't mind a Gibson SG Classic as well.

Maybe I just completely misread the subtext, but neither JJ nor Uma's trolls ever struck me as malicious in the least. It was the Sam and Ralph shtick.

They were bored, half-clever, and they knew how to wind up people who didn't know better. Uma in particular always came across as transparently absurd and it baffled me that anyone would take either of them seriously. I could be wrong; it certainly wouldn't be the first time.

His location entry was "post-ironic meta troll," or something like that, for feck's sake. It's mind-boggling that people ever took him seriously.

After checking this place out for two days you people need to do a reality check because all the cork sniffers are here. And for god sakes please stay here. By the way, typing here is painfully slow.

Hello Sunshine Mike! You please stay here as well, your presence is sorely missed!

I think what this thread shows is what a diverse group of people we now have here, and what makes that interesting is that half of the things that the HCEG crowd won't miss, is precisely the stuff that the HCGJ crowd does miss, and is trying to replicate here.

I like HC, been a member since 2001. I'll miss it. It was good entertainment.

Hew, They had a thread about you over at GJ, someone said you were killed in a horrible one car wreck  I dedicated this to you

Hello, I too am a refugee :)

Welcome!

I will miss the way people ignore the orginal question and just answer the question they wish they were asked.

As opposed to here, when we ignore the original post in a thread and go where ever we want with it :embarrassed:

It will be interesting.

Scheduled week long maintenance. Can't really say I hated anything or anyone, just read or looked at the stuff that caught my attention (ie Sideboob) and didn't feel the need to be part of every thread.
