Not new, not original. But I love this tune. And I listen to it every damn new year's eve.
And Benny is still the master of the pop/rock vocal arrangement. So many layers, yet still simple and effective.
I remember growing up in a time when listening to pop like this was very much not cool, but to this day I don't fucking care.
Quality pop still beats most shit on the radio these days.

Those are great. Any time I hear The Monks I am struck by what a weird thing they must have been for their audience. Absolutely crazy. And they were GIs! There was no way the Soviet Bloc could have prevailed in the face of such freedom.
