What amp would your 16 year old self buy for at home jamming?

they have lower power friedmans. the little combo is actually called the small box amp. but, you know, it's a grand or something.

i like John, and i wish him all the luck with this store, but yea......not gonna make a living selling that level equipment in toledo.
I hope that do well, it's a cool shop. Maumee needs a shop. They just don't seem to know the market well. I know they recently moved back from Florida. Maybe that stuff moves down there. They have a odd guitar selection too. They have the low end covered with the Sterling line, but the bread and butter $500-$1,200 guitar segment is not well represented. The only thing they offer are D'Angelico's and Supro's. The D'Angelico's a nice enough but they are fairly niche, and everyone is blowing Supro's out for 50-60% off right now. The Zematis stuff is too weird for me.

When you look at his amps it's either super high end or Line 6 Spider's. I've stopped out to buy strings a few times and last time I was there they only offered Ernie Balls or D'Angelico's, no D'Addarios at all. He does have a very nice pedal selection, and higher end pedals aren't easy to find in town, so I'll give him some pedal business. I think he will probably sell a few Taylors as long as he stocks some of the more affordable models.

to answer the OP title, my actual 16 year old self had one of these. just the head. we (me and friends) built a 1x15 cabinet for it and i think i got the 15" speaker from radio shack.

i don't know. i was there from a couple minutes before noon until about 2pm.
were you there when the two guys were sort of jamming, one of them was playing slide?
No, the only person playing was a guy with a grey pony tail. there were about 10 people or so milling about. I hung out for around 20 mins, bought some strings and got a free t-shirt. I had to got home and do some chores.

At 16, I had minimum wage part time cashflow with gas and car insurance bills to contend with so it's gotta be cheap, loud and do the high gain; craigslist here I come.

So many knobs and switches. So many opportunities for me to totally fuck it up.
Not at all.

It's essentially a two channel amp with two voicings per channel. I like the crunch option and the rest hardly ever get used.

The rest of that stuff on the right side is just choosing wattage, channel, EQ on or off, allowing the EQ to be controlled by the foot switch or not, and whether you want to use the traditional Boogie slider EQ or the "preset depth" EQ knob instead. All this crap you just set and forget:

Welp, there’s a Dark Terror in the truck. I’ve been dealing with these guys forever. They said take whatever you like and give it a whirl. If you don’t like it bring it back tomorrow or stop in and pay. The micro dark sounds good so I’m hoping the regular tube one will just be that much sweeter. I’ll report back on my quest. Thought about the origin 20 head also.

Your 16 year old self with your current situation though.

Marshall half stack.

What would I get for a 16 year old to jam at home with, probably the Bassbreaker 15.

Yes, Marshall half stack or Vox AC30. What I had at 16 was a Sunn 200s. Still miss that amp.

You should check out the Rocker 15 Terror Head.

I've been in hate with my Blues Jr for 12 years. It sounds so dead and life less to me. I've retubed it, new speaker. If my dog hadn't;t chews on the corner I would have traded it for a Deluxe Reverb. I know people love them, but mine is pretty lousy.

Get somebody to do a Princeton mod. It won't sound like a Princeton but it will tighten up that flubby low end. Also don't use the drive switch or whatever it's called if you're playing at gig volumes.
