We haven't discussed whiskey here in a while...

My current favorite.

I'm new to whisky. For some reason I could never find a way to like it. Now I love it and almost always drink it neat. I'll throw an ice cube in once in a while depending on mood. Maybe it has something to do with growing the beard.

Accidentally had some Scotch and loved it. Since have had several different bottles and ventured into Bourbon. Even got a chance to taste some Pappy. Not that I know anything, but that was very, very good.

Intriguing

“Bearface Whisky has a goal: craft Canadian whisky unlike any other. Here, their seven-year-old Triple Oak whisky is married to mezcal from Oaxaca and voilà, a superb new spirit. Expect honeyed notes with red berry nuances, gorgeous spice tones and a fourth dimension of smoky agave. Pair with al pastor tacos or barbecue.”

I've not bought a bottle of single malt in forever. I may need to indulge in a few over the holidays. :thu:

I scored a bottle of Bowmore 15 yr for this weekend. It is wonderful.

I have to dock it 1 star for the cork falling apart though.

Sweet that's probably my favourite go to whisky :thu:

It's all gone now, and I miss it already.

It has all the funky smoke and peat I expect from an Islay, yet not so much that it makes your eyes cross. I haven't enjoyed a whisky this much in a long time.

I asked my wife to get me a bottle of bourbon at the liquor store.

She brought home this.

It’s not bad.

Lots of rye in it. Aged in a very charred barrel.

It’s got a kick to it but it’s not harsh going down.

I've been trying tons of different whiskey lately and the Wild Turkey 101 ends up on a lot of "best budget" lists so I bought a bottle recently and like it. Smooth enough but enough bite too.

I keep a big bottle of Jameson as a every day whiskey and have lately had Bulleit, Angels Envy, Woodford Reserve, Gentleman Jack, another Jack variation that I can't remember but was pretty good, and several different Scotch's. I haven't had anything I hated but I do like the 101.

Wrong thread but I also bought (overpaid for) a bottle of artisan Tequila while I was in Cozumel and it is fantastic.

Didn't read through all the posts - but if this hasn't been bought up it should be.

Angel Envy Rye - it's finished off in Caribbean rum barrels. The absolute best tasting I've ever had in whisky.

And if you have an hour to spare check out the documentary "Neat" on HULU - it's about the whisky/bourbon industry.

I found a diamond in the rough this weekend.
shopping

Made by Buffalo Trace. $18 at the mom and pop liquor store. I dare say it is nearly identical to Buffalo Trace. I had them side by side and would be hard pressed to tell the difference.

This thread galvanised me to pick up some whisky so I got some Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair when I was shopping yesterday.

It was bought on a whim and I resent the fact most whiskys use some stupid name now to disguise their age - interestingly Glenfiddich and Glenmorangie seem to have gone back to age naming, but I'll give this one a go.

I picked up some Michter's bourbon last week. It's pretty tasty, but not as good as the rye.

Mrs Jbj is out with friends as she's finished work for Xmas so Ive decided to dig in.

It's a lot darker than the pic. Honey almost

Very floral for an Islay (actually reminds me of a Highland) no peat which kind of misses the point of it being an Islay but fuck it, it's whisky and it shall be drunk.

I grabbed a bottle of this last week. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet though.

A rule that is unique to Canadian Whisky allows us to blend another spirit in a 10 to 1 ratio and still call it Canadian Whisky.

This is an Oaxaca blend. The first in the world according to their website.

So I've gone from zero whisky in the house to having 4 bottles in the past week or so :embarrassed:

I had a masters special reserve Bunnahbain I bought at a charity auction sitting in my parents house (bought for £150, now worth £300 - if I hadn't opened it!)

I asked my parents to drop it off as it's sat in their house for years and they brought me a Macallan that I don't remember owning but apparently it's mine too.

Picked up the other Bunnahbain I mention earlier in the thread and my brother in law (turns out he's recently started working for a big distillery brand) got me a bottle of Glenfiddich XX for Christmas.
