Walnut Hollowbody Build

4lb 14oz. That's a lot of holes.
And this bad boy is loud! I wasn't sure what to expect but it's much louder than I suspected it might be given how thick the back is. A good rap with the knuckles and it rings out. The pitch of the ring is shifting downwards as I remove material.

Ok, access panel decision time. I'm seriously considering a front access panel. Either wood or chrome.
I like the tele setup with everything under the one panel. Shure makes it easy to work on.
Shall I do it or go in from the rear?

If the back is really resonant, seems it would be a shame to hack a hole in it. Especially since the top will have holes cut in it already.

This back is freaking loud! I'm truly shocked at how much volume this thing has when rapped.
Before, it was, well, a giant slab of wood. Nice tone i guess but no resonance to speak of out of a 2" thick 8 pound slab. It's like a drum now.

The top will have to have holes for pickups and pots already, so it seemed logical to go from the front.
I guess maybe going in from behind makes it look more "finished?"

Is it going to have F holes or anything?

Haven't decided on f holes. That's another access option but I don't want a feedback machine so I'm leaning towards leaving the top closed.

After how much I love my Taylor T5... I'm going to have to do a hollow body guitar some time soon.
