Walnut Hollowbody Build

Nice work.

I'd have been sweatin' over those cuts.
They define the look so much, I'd be afraid of messing it up and creating firewood.

Me too.

Tonight's work involved no chisels, but sandpaper. I took the radius sanding block and flattened out the fingerboard.
Now, according to the charts, Honduran rosewood isn't as hard as Indian rosewood. This piece I have here, however, is probably the hardest piece of wood I've ever worked. Even 60 grit sandpaper barely leaves a mark.
On the other hand, it polishes up nicely. I sanded this up to 2000 grit, then liberal amounts of elbow grease and an old t shirt. Capped with a bit of linseed oil and it looks good. I've never owned a guitar with a fretboard polished to this extent. Looks pretty cool.
And, the more I look at this color, the more I think I'll leave it natural. It should look nice with the black guitar.

That is stunning dude. Really.

Wow, that fretboard looks fantastic.

Oh and get well soon.

damn that is looking good.

Thanks. The Honduran really takes a shine well. LMI had a blurb on their site claiming it is the premier rosewood available today. I think I know why. People like the chocolate brown of the Brazilian and Indian but this stuff is way hard and very waxy.
