Thats awesome that you have original PAF's in it ....do you have any clips of this guitar?

Well, hmmm...let me see. I don't have clips of anything, but I do remember some of the sessions I played it on. I'll dig them up and convert to mp3, I guess. I suppose I can't use Photobucket for those, can I? Anyway, the neck pickup on that thing is instant Jimmy Page -- startlingly so.

Actually I use soundclick for a bunch of the streaming audio and its free...

It would be cool to hear it!

Soundclick is blocked at work, apparently. Any other options?

email me the files and I'll host them here for you...

Found some more, and I took a picture of my '86 custom shop BC Rich ST-III that I have sitting next to me in my office. I tend to rotate what guitar I have in my office every few months.

The BC Rich:

'96 LP Classic Clownburst (with '57 Classic and Classic+ pickups), somewhere in Hoboken:

'96 LP Standard Honeyburst (with Duncan Antiquity pickups), somewhere in Hoboken on a different night:

You've got a ton of great guitars...I've never seen a custom shop BC Rich before...were you able to order stuff from them like the Fender custom shop?

Yes. I liked them at the time, but really wanted a custom spec neck. My local guitar shop (where I later worked for several years) was a big BC Rich dealer, and had a personal relationship with the Rico's. So, I basically ordered it thru them, and Bernie Jr. was happy to make something for me. It didn't cost much more than a stock guitar, really. Not all that much anyway. The neck is very much like a nylon string neck -- VERY wide and completely flat, a shred machine. Almost no finish on the neck at all. Also, you can see an extra toggle switch, which is an active on-board preamp. The bridge pickup is a DiMarzio Super Distortion.

I don't think I've ever played a nicer BC Rich..my experienc has always been the cheaper ones.

I did have a middle aged housewife show up for a class last week with a "Bich" bass from teh 80's, though ;D

Back then, the American BC Rich guitars were amazing, even "off the rack" ones. If you ever have the opportunity to play an early 80's neck-thru Mockingbird or Eagle, you'll see what I mean -- amazing handmade guitars. I think they sold off the company around '87 or 88, so the quality went down the tubes.

I have never played one from that period...my frame of reference unfortunately are the "NJ" series and other off-shore guitars. They did seem to be a smaller "custom shop" type company in the beginning, though...are the early 80's ones getting big prices now?

Here's a better pic of the BC Rich.

Plus, a pic of my First Act Paul Westerberg model. Being a huge Replacements/Westerberg fan, I had to have one. They were cheap (per Paul's instructions, apparently) and ended up being a very limited edition. I got mine new for $100 shipped through Toys R Us, believe it or not. It's got a single P-90, and sounds pretty much like a LP Jr., maybe not as meaty. Anyway, I've used it at rehearsals, and as a spare on a few gigs, and it rocks. The neck is HUGE -- the biggest, widest, fattest neck I've ever played.

More of my guitars will be shown as I rotate them in my office.

NIce!

Was the Paul Westerberg model really that cheap? :embarrassed:

I actually have a pretty funny Paul Westerberg story...

I used to play in a band with Josh Freeses little brother Jason, and this comes second hand but I believe it really happened. Josh was touring with Paul (Josh is an awesome drummer if you don't know who he is) and this was earlier in his career when he was still doing quite a bit of playing with the punk band the Vandals.

Apparently there was one song every night where Paul would hit the same chord and do a spin or some kind of stage move...same thing every night, same place in the song. This particular night Paul did the spin and apparently pinched a nerve in his back or something, fell down and started having a seizure on the stage right next to Joshs drumkit. Josh, thinking that Paul was just stepping up the "show" thought (from his punk rock aesthetic) that it would be even cooler to kick him with his High Hat foot and really get the crowd going.

Needless to say he really felt like a giant douche after he discovered that his boss was really injured and he was kicking him while he was actually writhing in pain on the floor. ;D

Drummers will do that to you! Bastards! One hit me right in the base of my skull with a drum stick at a gig, he said it was an accident >:(
He was throwing his sticks into the crowd (not trying to destroy my brain-stem) >:(

Initially, the Westerberg model was about $180. I knew the price would drop after a while, and it sure did -- they were blowing out remaining inventory for $75!!! so, w/ tax and shipping, it ended up being $100. I almost bought 2, but when I went back -- literally 5 minutes later -- they were SOLD OUT.

Of course I know who Josh is -- like I said, I'm a Replacements/Westerberg freak! Great story, btw.... ;D

Another 2 from my collection today, taken on my phone before I left for work this morning.

First is the Danelectro 59-DC reissue in Beatnik Burgundy. This is from the first round of reissues from the late 90's, and has one of the greatest shaped necks I've ever felt.

Man....I wish I had know about those guitars when they were actually on sale. I saw the ad with Paul in the magazines holding it but I figured it was a more expensive guitar.....

I have a few Josh stories through his brother ( all hilarious), a few ABOUT his brother, one not so funny of Josh heckling me while I was playing at the County Fair and I played their dads 50th birthday party....

Another one for today, although it's a lousy picture -- my phone just does not want to take a good pic of this one today. My Larrivee' D-03RE:

I am hoping in time for my lesson Saturday. It shipped out UPS ground from Lexington, Nebraska yesterday evening. ETA is Friday currently. So I am feeling like it'll probably be Monday.

In any case, I'll bring it in with me so you can check it out.

I am actually pretty stoked about it. It's kind of one of those impulse / mysterious purchases. I can't find any info on it whatsoever but I already sourced a pair of 60 re-issue tele Pups for it on the cheap and as soon as I get it I am swapping out that pickguard.

I am hoping a standard Tele PG will fit it with different hole pattern. Of course, knowing my luck, I'll probably have to make a template and cut a new one for it.

I really like the goldtop with tortoise or black pearloid.

Cool!

What if the guitar sounds cool as it is, though?
