That happens to me a lot. I have an arrangement in my head that sounds great but cant seem to get it worked out on the execution side. My vocals keep wanting to follow the chord progression too closely or something. I may have to try doing a more simple strum pattern as a scratch just so I can get the vocals done and add the full guitars after. I am off tomorrow so I will get some work done then.

Record the vocal line on guitar and follow that while recording. Sounds cheesy, but it will just get erased later on and replaced by vocals. I've done this many times.

Makes sense but I would have as much trouble finding it on the guitar as I would singing it.
 
I've done that, but using keyboards instead
helps sometimes.
other times, I just couldn't find the range.

most of the issue is that my voice just ain't great for much but hollerin'.
 
I *might* do a piano song, since that doesn't affect my joints as much. I should have some time this weekend.
 
Got the basic track down :cool:...just need to do vocals, a couple of overdubs and we should be done :). This was fun to do..definitely learned a few things about PC recording in the process. One odd thing was that even though I have zero latency when playing through the monitors...headphones had a slight latency problem :shrug:
 
HAd the music all done except for solo.


Then found out I missed the entire last verse.

Edit: And now my wife is complaining that she can't hear this song anymore. Maybe I won't get done. :facepalm:

Sigh. Everything that was recorded in my birth year sounds like a darned novelty song. It's "pre-rock" (1963). I don't think I can do this one.
 
Anyone interested in doing a collaboration of "The night the Lights went out in Georgia", with me. I was born in '72, but Prages is too busy to do the music.
 
I'm actually '69.
But the song I did was from '84 'cause I really wanted to do that song.
 
I've finished up one song.

Dexter, I'm not going to do the song we discussed, so you can have at it.
 
Can anyone possibly sing a Sabbath tune for me? I won't be able to get around to shouting in the next week. Even a last minute mix will do. PM me please. I'd hate to throw this away.
 
I still cant sing mine very well. I need some musical knowledge or something. I am singing it totally different than the original and in a way different key than the cover that I am using as a guide.
