The Great Deals Thread

Amazon has the Firefly semi hollow 335 style back in. If these are my model they are a stone cold steal at $149. I am trying the link but no guarantees. Otherwise search Amazon for Firefly guitar.

Sorry. Can’t get the link to work. No whining. PLEASE.

Had some rewards points at MF that expire soon. Son finally got a pickup for his Dean Paramount. I was looking at some Perri's straps, lots on sale now, in case he still wasn't ready to order.

MF's code NEW2020 was on most of the straps and the Dimarzio bass pickups I was looking at. He got the DP127. 20% off. Other Dimarzios, the code takes of 10, 15, 0r 25%. Same with the Perri's straps.

Order Subtotal: $91.99
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Sales Tax: $4.60
Discounts: ($18.40)
Order Total: $78.19
Paid by LOYALTY_POINT: $52.88
Paid by CREDIT_CARD : $25.31

Sure it's a nice guitar but I'm not sure how it's a good deal at the current bidding price nor how an auction is ever a good deal, let alone a candidate for The Great Deals Thread.

I completely understand.
Provision is a MIJ brand & as such there is very little info on them so, they are pretty much an unknown entity to 99.9999999% of guitar players.
So, again, your reservations are completely understandable.

Provision guitars are all custom order aka Provision does not make mass produced, cookie cutter guitars; they only make a guitar when a customer orders a guitar.
Provision guitars are hand made, thus the quality is basically like receiving a 'custom shop' level instrument.

A "great deal" is in the eye of the beholder; one man's trash is another man's treasure & vise versa.
Let's just say if the Provision VLP-DC Jr in the listing was a Gibson Historic, the price point would be a minimum $3K, and the Gibson would be a 'cookie cutter' guitar.

YMMV

My point wasn't the guitar. I'm all for great MIJ guitars.

My point is that it's an auction. Those never end up being "Great Deals".

If this was a listing on Japan Guitars or Ishibashi for a fixed price that was great for what it is then great. We live in an age where you can ride down to Guitar Center and get a better deal on a new guitar than you can on the same exact model used on an eBay auction because people who don't know jack bid things up. I just got outbid on eBay for a super cheap Eden body that shouldn't be more than $50. It has six days left and is up to $61.

custom order Provision Les Paul Jr. (double cut)

I like it, a lot

ended @ 90,600 yen, the yen is currently @ 105 so, do the math, that's $863 USD for a (better than) Gibson Historic level, hand made LP Jr. DC.
It is not uncommon for Yahoo Japan auction items to end up in Japanese retail shops so, the possibility this guitar ends up in a guitar shop, even Ishibashi, in Tokyo with an asking price of 157,000 yen/$1495 USD is certainly in the cards.
I guess a 'great deal' is pretty much all relative.

I'm more of a Rainsong guy myself, but have to admit it's tempting!
