The first "oops" of the Olympic Games.

One good thing about these games...finally the women get to do ski jumping in the olympics.
Lovely to see them finally rewarded after fighting for that for decades. :thu:

Oddly enough, some of them are really good at it. :)

Best snowboard belongs to Danny Davis

Yeah, that is a cool board. I was liking his first finals run. Too bad the half pipe is in such bad condition. Really, too bad most of the snow venues have poor snow conditions. The nordic course was a mess.

Yep, the soft transition wiped out Danny and a few others. The little Japanese guy brought it for silver, as did the Russian/Swiss dude.

Finally got to see some curling last night.

The bad news is, it was the USA ladies getting thoroughly destroyed by Great Britain, they set an olympic record by giving up 7 in a single end.

I think it caused White to struggle too as he relies on a lot of speed to pull off the things he does to win, and fighting the slush must have been hard. He was gracious in defeat though.

Kaitlyn Farrington, a local girl from Bellevue, ID, basically a 5 miles south, is competing in women's half pipe today. Go Kaitlyn!!

In fact, the area sent a few athletes there to compete. Pretty cool!

Go USA!! There are definitely problems in this Olympics, but it is still great for our athletes to go compete with athletes from other "worlds". Yes, there is corruption and unfairness at times, but that is true in most any human endeavor. Doesn't mean we should not try. And it also does not mean these young athletes should not use their talents while they have the skill and technique, focus and physical health to do so. Go get 'em athletes!

Always nice to see local people compete. Alpine skiier Kjetil Jansrud, who's now won a medal in 2 olympics in a row, grew up just a couple of hundred meters from here.
Nice bloke, and really cool to see him do well. :)

When not rooting for the 'merican skiers, I am rooting for the Norwegians.

Quite a safe bet that.
More fun that rooting for the Austrians. My family heritage has a large chunk of Norwegian in it (and no Austrian), and ever since Lase Kjus, who I admired, have liked the not too flashy, just get it done approach of the Norwegians. (plus it is always fun to root against the Austrians, who are like the Yankees of skiing).
