oh man people are different in real life than on social media.... BREAKING NEWS!!!!
It's a new angle, to be sure. But most of this feels like the same old story of Americans claiming collective ownership of the virtue of young white women.
Some of the farm YouTubers I watch are van-life-adjacent, and none of them are acknowledging this story, but it's got to be sending a chill through the community.
Yesterday they were looking for the dude in some wet, wooded area and saying it would be highly unlikely to find him/someone out there even with the bloodhounds. Which jus reminded me of...
LOL! I loved that show as a kid.
My wife and daughter were listening to some supposed news report about it yesterday, in which the person speaking was freaking out that the guy or his family had said to talk to their lawyer(s). I would note that any lawyer that was consulted by the dude or the family would say to direct questions to the law firm and not talk to anyone about it. And it is a right, and one cannot necessarily determine what happened by pointing to people following legal advice.News outlets definitely pump the shit out of missing young white women stories.

I get that it looks really suspicious. I dislike that the press whips everyone into a frenzy about it before any real facts are known. And it is a sad story. And there are lots of sad stories regarding families that are not white that are not receiving the same attention. Not that I like obsessive media attention before real facts are known.
Corollary: News sources lots of times report summaries of “Probable Cause Affidavits” filed in the court to get arrest warrants, and etc. That always bugs me too. It is the initial theory by the police and the initial evidence they have to justify an arrest. A more probable than not sort of document. Often full of errors, etc. that are revealed later in the case. This all gets reported in the press, and most defendants don’t come out in the press to tell their story, as that is generally later in the process in resolving the case, if at all. But meanwhile, a community has rendered judgment in trial by press. To me, that is annoying.
I hear you also. And you make a good point, if he had phoned it in and then lawyered up after they started looking at him, that might’ve looked up a little better.I hear ya, but let's be honest -- as soon as someone rolls into town from a trip like that without their girlfriend, red flags are going to go up. Had he -- wherever they were when she "went missing" -- called the authorities and said "My girl is missing, please help!", it wouldn't look nearly as bad. But no, he decided to take a multi-day trip home without her in her van and hope - what? No one would notice??? Gimme a break.
they saidt today (Tuesday) they will have resultsI'm wondering when they will identify the body. I'm sure they have but when will they release it? I assume if it isn't her then we'd already know.
John Walsh didn't exactly hold back this morning.
I figured it would be since they had the press co nference on Sunday and I doubt they wouldve said anything like they did if they weren't sure. I saw the local coroner also stated that it was ruled a homicide and they are doing a bit more detailed autopsy to determine cause. They have confirmed that the body they found in Grand Teton is Gabby Petito. We have a murder case.
