Signature Guitars

Reeves is on everything Bowie did from 1987-1999, he also just re-recorded Never Let Me Down as re-produced (2018) by Mario J McNulty. All songs have all of David's original vocals and guitars. New guitars are by David Torn & Reeves Gabrels, bass by Tim LeFebvre, drums by Sterling Campbell, string arrangements by Nico Muhly.

only recording with The Cure was as a guest guitarist on Galore's Wrong Number in 1997.

I love my Reeves, but I don't have the desire/ability to sound like him. To be honest, I love him as person and he's awesome to hang out with, but his style of playing isn't really my thing. It's very impressive though.

He's great with The Cure. He plays those parts so well. He references the original parts while still doing his own thing. The Cure is one of my favorite bands, and the first concert I ever attended in 1992.

Don't forget Tin Machine

I'd love to have the Susanna Hoffs signature Rickenbacker. Not because its Susanna Hoffs -- nothing against her -- but because it nicely combines the classic 60's features into a nicer looking Ric. Never gonna happen though.

Ahh, Susana Hoffs................

Along those same lines, I've always wanted and Elliot Easton sig Grestch.

I buy them for the features. I bought the J Mascis jazzmaster because it was purple, made in Japan, and had a TOM bridge. I might buy the Ed O'Brien strat because I love white strats and it has a sustainer pickup in it.

I guess the closest I came was the Summer of Love strat - it had the Hendrix paint job but was signed by some guy names Bluth that I never heard of. I am not a Hendrix fan; I just really liked the hippie paint job. I don't know enough to make a signature model worth the extra money.

Gilmour Black Strat .... WANT!!

Gilmour Black Strat price tag .... DO NOT WANT!!

I wouldn't say no to a Santana sig PRS in that yellow, though.

My gold Schecter is basically a clone of the guitar Townshend used on the '82 tour and the Live Aid appearance. I don't know whether he declined an official endorsement deal or what the full story is, but Schecter has always dodged the issue by calling that model the "PT."

It seems that he has been playing the Eric Clapton sig for a long time.

The only one I have/have ever had is the Reverend Meshell Ndegeocello sig bass, and I got it because of the features (although Meshell is pretty cool).

FWIW, I recently put some chromes on it and am digging it even more now!

I know he's been playing Strats for a very long time but it's just weird. In my mind the iconic Townshend guitar is an LP Deluxe or the black Schecter from the "Eminence Front" video.

I don't regret for a second buying my gold PT—it's my favorite electric I've ever owned. It came up on Reverb at a stupid-low price and I pounced. But the blacked out version really is the iconic Townshend Schecter.

i have a Jimmie Vaughan Sig strat. i didn't buy it to 'sound like him'. i bought it because of the features on it that don't exist together on any other model.
it is basically a 1957 reissue, but with hot tex-mex pickups, extra hot in the back and with no tone control on the middle pickup which makes the 2 and 4 positions a bit more aggressive. also it has a soft V neck (which i like) and only 21 frets, like the original 50's strats. but it has med-jumbo frets and a 9.5 radius neck, so plays easier/better than the originals.

I'm guessing he's using the mid boost circuit to get his LP type tones.

-features not available anywhere else?

That would be my reason, but I don't perceive see "sig" models really being any different than a model name, like Les Paul or Stratocaster. I don't consider them an endorsement for the artist.

Replicas is a whole other thing.
