It's bizarre that politicians are allowed to blatantly lie during campaigns and then think they can continue without consulting the people's lawful representation :shrug:

Seeing as in Scotland there was a majority of remain votes (and one a lot bigger than the countrywide leave majority) the Scottish parliament is just doing their job in representing their constituency.

And quite right too. Just like the Scottish Government have stfu and accepted the decision following a much bigger % of remain votes for the independence referendum :embarrassed:

Bullshit argument.

Scotland going independent would have fundamentally changed the UKs situation a lot more than Brexit and the No camps fears that an Indy Scotland would be a social and financial clusterfuck are as reasonable and valid as a remainers about leaving the EU.

I voted to remain but that's politics, unless you want to bring in qualified voting you've got to live with the fact a lot of idiots are going to hold sway over your future.

It's a perfectly valid argument. A considerable amount of people, many EU immigrants like me, voted remain out of fear that an independent Scotland would be out of the EU. Guess what happened next...

I am not necessarily in favour of Scottish independence, but if that's what it takes to stay in the EU, so be it.

But that's not the point though is it? If the Scottish people voted to remain then the Scottish parliament is doing nothing but their electorial duty by trying to represent the voice of their voters :shrug: Whether they'll succeed and whether it is right to block the outcome of a referendum countrywide is a second thing.

But I have to say, thumbs up to the Scotts, they seem to be the only ones who vote using their brain lately :embarrassed:
 
Well Id say anything happening in the UK is going to be overshadowed by fat fuckwit Trump.

I was thinking about moving to Canada but apparently so is almost everyone else too.

I really can't understand how people can trust that guy, even less that any of his ideas will actually make their lives better. But well, their country...

In other news, autumn here has officially been skipped :embarrassed: The amount of snow isn't as big as it sometimes gets, but it's very unusual to have this much this early. It's been dumping for almost a week now :messedup: THANKS TRUMP

Eh, it's all relative.

I'm now reading Tom Holland's Millenium, it's about the massive shifts in the world around the turn of the first Millenium and how people dealt with believing the world they knew was truly ending. It's quite topical right now :embarrassed:

For me the most worrying thing is the way the "new" right wing deals with critics and the absolute disregard for anyone who disagrees. Trump is just one exponent of that, we have enough of them in Europe as well. It's just scary when people start the polarising behaviour of "I'm right, you're wrong" instead of "I think I'm right and here's why".
