Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

I don't think anything 'happened' as such. I just thought id ask here as he was mentioned in a different thread.

He did make the jump from HC to here I think and then just disappeared.

Strange as he was such a regular visitor. Did he get a new job or something? Still, he used to post on weekends and nights so God knows.

Calum never really made the transition from HCGJ, the nonce

I think the 'burning the candle at both ends' explanation is the most likely for the Glasgow Effect. The entire culture is based around getting shit faced all the time. More so even that the likes of Manchester and Liverpool. Plus the diet it absolutely terrible. If the Scottish government want to do something about it they need to spend money on nutritional education. I grew up with that diet and see it when I go home. It's unbelievable the crap people eat.

Oh, and I've mentioned it before, I remember when they were filming World War Z and the the BBC had an article about crowds of extras dressed a zombie's wondering the street of Glasgow.

Then at the bottom of the page they asked 'Are you in Glasgow? Have you noticed anything different?'

 It was actually pretty cool when they had the place kitted out like the US. Didn't realise it at the time but I was between jobs so could have signed up to be an extra

I read that article this morning and being from here, it didn't totally surprise me and I think PMC isn't too far off the mark.

Uni lecturers far and wide can debate all day long about this or that and inevitably these things change over time (we're not exactly dropping like flies due to polio infested tenements like the good old days...) but what it really boils down to is we drink too much, we smoke too much, we would literally eat shite if it could be battered, we do too many drugs and some parts of the city are very violent.

I just mentioned the other day that a girl was murdered at the bottom of my mum and dads street, a couple of years ago someone else was thrown off the top floor of a set of maisonettes and died round the back of there's, I got caught up in an investigation of a guy who was shot and killed from the next scheme over a good few years ago and although it's not the greatest of areas, it's nowhere near the worst so you can imagine what places like Easterhouse, Parkhead and Bridgeton are like....

I doubt it beam down south but BBC Scotland have just finished a 3 parter on the redevelopment of Dalmarnock for the Commonwealth Games and although it's a 5 minute drive away from here and I'm fairly used to the grimness Glasgow has to offer, the state some of these people live in and put there bodies through is unbelievable - it really doesn't take a huge amount of IQ points to work out why wee Johnny whose da is in the jail, maw smokes 400 a day, brother get stabbed to death, sister is a junky, never bothers to go to school and won't do a shift in his life probably won't be getting a letter from the Queen.

Morning!

Off camping later. Monday is a day off so if possible we'll stay until then but it depends on the weather, well that and if its crap or not.

Yes! I will certainly be drinking my own body weight in German beer. Thats if I can keep it cool. Its supposed to be 28C here tomorrow.

In other news…….I have found Jon! I sent an email to his Slade tribute group asking what the hell he was playing at, just leaving and not saying goodbye. This is his reply…

'Hi Acadia

I had no idea id been missed as basically not many people like me. I became fed up of the 'rat race' and decided to find myself and the meaning of my existence. To this end I left everything I own behind and became a fee spirit. Sadly, its hard to get by in this world without money and the only way to gain it was to rent out my bum to other men. Its a means to an end. I see it as nothing else. Plus even dirty old men need love.

Things took a turn for the worse when I was arrested for fondling a homeless man and stealing his cider. After reflecting upon my life in the prison cell I decided to choose another path and have decided to become a priest. Its similar to what I was doing previously but with a salary.

Yours

Jonphilips. '

I may have changed a bit of his original email in the interests of art. He did say that he'd say hi though on here. So, one MIA found, now to find that pesky Calum.

Morning all.

Acadia Detective Services - missing Weiners found while you wait...

Oh, that sounds so wrong.

Oi! Dexter! What's this bloke like then?

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27718845

Good manager! Took little Strømsgodset, who hadn't won anything in recent times, and made them league winners last year - building that team on largely youngsters (Celtic player Stefan Johansen being the main cog while he played there...). Did it without the money that teams like Rosenborg has had over the last few years. And did it with attractive attacking football. Sort of the Norwegian Rodgers in many aspects.

No idea how he'll cope with a new league, but good bloke. :)

@Dexter Inferno - caught a bit of Adam Hills on Channel 4 last night doing a sketch about languages and in particular about the Swedish Chef from the muppets and I thought of you knowing the relationship that the Swedes and Norwegians have.

Found it on youtube at another venue from 2013. (Skip to 2.40 if you don't want to watch the other language piss taking).
