Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

Helped a friend move yesterday, and then moved the GF's studio to a new building.

Every muscle in my body is now telling me to not subject them to such "fun" again :embarrassed:

Rounded off an already shitty day in work by finding out one of the kids I used to teach passed away around Christmas.

Fuck, mojo :(

Cheers mate.

It's rare but sadly goes hand in hand with this gig where the kids often have significant medical and physical needs on top of their learning difficulties.

I've taught mainstream kids who have wound up dead, strung out or in jail and it's always tragic but there's something really cruel about it happening to a kid / young man on this case who had never really had a life to enjoy in the first place.

We wake up tomorrow and go again but this is a sore one to take today.

yeah, my ex is a teacher, and had ex-pupils who ended up killing someone, ended up drug addicts, in jail or dead. As sad as it is, I guess it is all the more rewarding when you see an ex-pupil become reslly succesful

True.

In the grand scheme of things the kids I work with aren't going on to be doctors or lawyers but they deserve a decent life and most of them and their families have the same aspirations as the rest of us.

I'm six years in this particular school now so our leavers started the same day as me, I taught them all on our first day actually, and they're getting ready to move on. I had to grab a few of them today to scrape up some last minute paperwork and we had a right good chat.

One of them has an unconditional offer to do an SCQF level 4 ICT course at college, one is waiting to interview for an animal care course and another is interviewing for a full time job at Costa. I've absolutely burst my arse the past few months to get another one onto a horticulture course over the summer and I'm mad proud of them. It might not be much on paper or an outsider but for these kids it's a massive accomplishment.

anyone else noticed supermarket prices have skyrocketed recently. Went to Lidl today, and some products have become 30% to 50% more expensive in a week's time. Also noticed that some products like tinned tomatoes have been unavailable/Sold out for weeks.

Went to Lidl

There's yer problem :embarrassed:

Here it's not that big of a deal. Gas has exploded, but I drive a (rented or borrowed) car once or twice every 3 months, so no biggie. In supermarkets here prices change by the day anyway, back in NL, the price was just the price for ages and would hardly change, here it's always all over the place. And it really pays to go to different supermarkets for different products. Lidl is cheap for some stuff, if you have the patience to deal with the classy clientele, but some of their stuff is just shit quality (if you shop for several days, forget about your Lidl vegetables being edible more than 2 days after buying), S-Market just has a huge range, and their vegetables are really season-dependent, K-Market veggies are stellar, but not cheap, but sometimes randomly the cheapest of the bunch. I think right now tomatoes are crazy, but spinach is cheaper than it ever was since we moved to Finland

My wife went to the store yesterday and told me that she was surprised at the number of things that had jumped in price dramatically or were even out of stock. Cooking oils, canola and olive, were almost completely gone out of stock. Flour was three times the price of a month ago. Vegetables were super expensive as well, and with some empty spaces on the shelf.

I couldn't tolerate your job. Just tragic stuff all the time, but I suppose it helps to know you are helping a lot. I'd call you a saint, but I know better. :bigg:

Yep, same here

Mojo jbj.

Wok, yes, I've noticed that too. I get most of my stuff in LIDL because, well, money's tight.

In other, slightly less important news, my tuner arrived from the Italian guy. Guess we got there in the end. I needed a replacement for the thin E string on a tele and I bought a lower 3-a-side tuner off him that I had to open up, flip over and then file one side off, but I think it's ended up being a pretty good match! I know I could've just gone with a whole new set, but it would've annoyed the piss out of me knowing that I'd wasted five spare ones.

Mojo, hope you feel better. When I caught it last week me and one mate tested positive (and felt worse than previous infections) but a 3rd one tested negative despite, as a you say, being 'absolutely floored'. It's a nasty strain of something going round.

So I hear, I'm on bed absolutely floored by some big.

LFTs keep coming back negative but I feel horrible.

Mojo. In my world LFT most commonly means liver function test, not lateral flow test. lol.
