Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

Well another week of lockdown almost over. Starting to grind away now the weather is getting nicer but hopefully stuff will start opening up again soon. It'd be nice to leave the house for something other than getting the messages in or the odd jaunt into work.

How you getting on with the car Wok?

The car is being repaired. Apparently the ‘speedo’ was defective so that is being fixed. Should get my car back soon.

meanwhile I enthusiastically signed up for an extra shift, then realised I have to pick up my daughter from school on fridays since the schools are back. They couldn’t cancel my shift, but I am allowed to leave early.

Lesson learned: never be too keen!

Lesson learned: never be too keen!

Word. I can procrastinate with the best of them but in work I tend to like getting stuff done asap. A lot of the time that backfires more than if I'd left it till someone is hassling me to get it done.

Went to help my dad build a shed yesterday. Turned in to an 8 hour job (got my dinner at 10!)

Decided I'd repoint some of my brickwork which is looking a bit sorry today. That's ended up taking me hours too and I'm only half done.

Refreshing lager beers after I wash the stink of mortar off me.

Finished the pointing today since it's been too cold all week.

James Blunt of a job but it was needing done. Lovely cement burns on my fingers.

Discovered a cracked loose tile on the roof too so I've bodged it with some plumbers mate to keep it in place

Next up is gutting the garden and pulling down my back fence.

Hows your flat coming along CoF?

I am in bed already. 10 hour shift today and tomorrow. It’s nice though to switch off from uni work for 2 days

We've been living there for 2 weeks and a bit now. So far super happy. I was too busy to make any decent pictures, so I'll make some tonight or tomorrow. I think I can finally switch back to a somewhat humane schedule for the coming week :embarrassed:

There's some small things that need to be done, but overall it's pretty much there. Still feels odd when walking/cycling home and turning right one street "early" :embarrassed:

I've been asked to chair a council wide working group for schools.

Doesn't come with extra dough but for once, it's actually something that will be good for the CV / get my name out there with the big wigs. :thu:

Today's exactly a year ago that I last called my grandma before she passed away a day and a half later. Normally I'm over these things quite quickly, and she wasn't exactly my favourite person in the world, but somehow it still feels a bit unprocessed as I couldn't (physically) be at the funeral and haven't had any opportunity to be with my family since.

Took the occasion to send a card to my grandma's sister-in-law, who's the only one on that side of the family left from that generation.

 just had my first karen encounter since the DJing was knocked on the head.

Washing my car so I told my old neighbour to drive his over and I'd do his since I'd dug out the power washer and all the cleaning stuff.

He was parked mostly on the pavement, a little on the road but with plenty of space.

Cars can pass through no problem. Then karens
draws up shouting from the passenger seat, it wasn't even that nice a car.

Dude just sat there sheepish while she lost it

"Is this a joke? Move the fucking thing we can't get by"

She'd literally just drove up seconds after a long wheelbase transit had passed through no problem and they must have seen it so we weren't moving and cracked on with the job as she sat there shouting.

Dude starts crawling forward and nearly hits a car across the road so I eventually had to guide the guy through. He had a good 3-4 feet clear on either side - the way she was going on you'd have thought it would be inches

Karen shouted this isn't finished as they drove off. I hope her emasculated man doesn't have a squad of emasculated brothers coming after me. :embarrassed:

Quality Saturday night ahead.

Enjoy.

I've been trying the odd IPA since getting my perfect draft machine. Not going to make me give up the lager but it's nice now and again.

I'm finishing the last of an Italian lager in my machine then going to crack a bottle of wine. Old Firm tomorrow so I've put a stella keg on for when I get back in the house. :embarrassed:

Never been a lager fan personally, certainly not of the standard Fosters, Carlsberg, Tennants, Stella stuff. Only time I tend to appreciate it, is having a Mongoose/Kingfisher/Cobra in an Indian restaurant or a Moretti with an Italian meal (preferably in Italy). The "UK" lagers are not for me but your mileage may vary. :thu:

I am currently having this one:

it's wonderfully fruity, but not overpowering and overly sweet. Recommend it!

I've just been grabbing stuff from the brewery nextdoor to my studio

They have a box or two standing there quite often with bottles that are a sip short or filled a bit too far for 2 bucks, so as long as it's not the porter, I'm not picky.
