Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

Just went for a Corona test. I went to a friend's birthday on Friday, there were only a few people there, but one of them got tested positive yesterday... Quite annoying as I've been avoiding everything and been super careful, and the first time I meet more than one person is instantly a fuckup. I feel fine, but I filled in the form so that it would send me to the test, cause I really can't deal with the stress of isolating for 2 weeks and worry about every little cough, itch in my throat and all that paranoia shit. Filled in the form at 10:30, booked a time slot for 13:embarrassed:0, got there early (it's quite stormy outside, so I didn't know how fast biking was gonna be), got a swab stuck up my nose 12:35, was home at 13:embarrassed:0 again. Should get the result tomorrow or the day after.

fingers crossed! I am sure it will be all clear

Eh I dunno, don't really care that much either way tbh. I mean, it would be highly inconvenient if the test comes back positive, but other than that, I mostly just want to know instead of sitting at home isolating in limbo.

It's 5 degrees and I'm sitting outside  It's actually quite nice in direct sunlight. Makes a huge difference. It's good to get out instead of being cooped up in the flat all day.

Sitting at my computer near the window and even though the heating has been on all day, it's absolutely freezing

Well flip. There's snow outside. Guess it IS cold.

Yeah, i had to use the old warm water on the windshield trick this morning. I still couldn't see shit when I drove to my ex's house t watch my daughter (she's ill).

Now sitting right in front of radiator doing video editing. With a cup of coffee of course. black. no sugar.

The rain was biblical yesterday. Took Lola a right good walk after work and I was soaked through. Even the Dyson hairdryer wasn't for drying her properly either.

For her end of night piss she was across the road and back in within about 40 seconds and still wringing. Getting measured for a waterproof cover once I've chased up some work bullshit.

Went to a couple of pubs last night. First one we got takeaway and stood outside but you weren't allowed to stand on the pavement outside the pub (where the heaters were) but as soon as you stepped of the kerb, that was fine

Second place was for food and we booked a table in the beer garden. It was quite civilised. You are only allowed to order drinks once you have ordered food, so you do that straight away. You can only order another one when you have finished your current drink, but can re-order as many times as you like as long as you have your plate in front of you. They don't take the dirty plate away when you finish eating. You can do that for a maximum of 2 hours.

All in all not that bad. We'll survive Tier 2 till spring. I worry about the pubs that can't re-open though as they don't do food and have nowhere for people to stand outside.

Yeah most pubs around here are fucked if they bring that rule in.

I'll be astounded if my closest local reopens anyway.

My local Ramgers boozer should be OK because people will go to it regardless but all the other ones are on trouble.

Wetherspoons will be fine

Bars here are still open "as normal", with the restriction of no alcohol sales after 10, close at 11 and everyone has to be seated at a table. I've been to a bar only twice since coming back from the island, I should have a look to see if my favourites are alright, there's one that might go down. Though it's good that there's a left leaning coalition with the social democrats in power here that set up very good support packages (and which have proven to keep the economy afloat well above expected levels in the spring lockdown).

In general it's quite weird, they're freaking out about how the situation is deteriorating here in the bigger Helsinki area, and they're not wrong in the sense that the first wave kind of never really materialised here, so relatively the numbers now look horrendous, but compared to all of Europe, it's nothing major. Where most of Europe is dealing with tens of thousands of cases per million inhabitants, it's less than 5000 here.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they take action before stuff actually spirals out of control here, but sometimes it's a bit hard to take it super serious when you see for example the Dutch pathetic and late response compared to people and government here.

Saturday afternoon and I'm sitting filling out job applications so I can chill and spend tomorrow watching the football. :gah:
