Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

Certainly if I was hiring someone, if I saw that they had had the self motivation to go out and get an MA, that would be a huge plus for me.

Can't argue with that Stu.

I enrolled on a course a few years ago at Glasgow Uni through work. Ultimately I didn't fancy following it all the way through to the Masters as it was going to be another 3 years and really would have been difficult to manage alongside working full time but I got a Post Grad Certificate and it's helped me career wise no end largely because it just sounds quite good: PG Cert - Teacher Leadership on a C.V. or in an interview question. It was good from a professional point too as it really gave me a better understanding of the wider picture so there's that too.

Talking about work sidenote:

Had a pretty horrible deadline to meet by close of business yesterday - I was informed of it Monday afternoon  Spent 2 days in the building bursting my pan, sent it off and then spent last night worrying that it was shit and I was going to get chewed out for it, it's basically the culmination of a year's work they needed pulled together in that short a space of time. Work up to a really nice e-mail from the gaffer saying she loved what me and my colleague had done and really appreciated the effort put in.

Was nice of her to do that - I dunno if it's because of doing the weddings where you're always ON even if it's pinging back e-mails to the US at 5 in the morning so they get a quick reply but there's a lot to be said for doing little things that you didn't have to to make people feel good. This boss and my last one are great at it.

Knowing your boss appreciates the effort is a real uplift. The good ones will let you know. I can sympathise with the deadline thing as I posted a week or so back, the sale guys held onto it for 3 of the 4 weeks we had to do a detailed technical response and it really needed most of that 4 weeks to really do it justice.

Preparing some stuff for my Masters application. They are super vague about what your submission should entail apart from being some evidence of design work along with the process and rationale. In a single .pdf

one upside though, due to the Covid thing they are unlikely to hold interviews...

Where/what are you applying?

Where/what are you applying?

well, I was looking at applying for Msc Design and Digital Media At Edinburgh University

Then I looked at the fees and the facts that Scholarships for this year are pretty much all closed.

So am looking somewhere else

Yeah I don't know how it is for part-time studies, but for most art/design related studies registration was in december/januari. I presume you're only looking around your area?

No, here you can still register for September. And yes, looking in Edinburgh specifically

What about the OU? Practically most things are going to be distance learning in Further Ed next year imo as they're much more geared up for it than the schools.

Even 15 years ago I could go out on a Sunday and get smashed, wake up at noon on Monday and watch that mornings lecture on my laptop :embarrassed:

And the Lord taketh away  Agreed to help a pal that's just back from mat leave with a leavers video. Every year we clap the seniors out of the building on their last day and she wanted staff to do little clips of them clapping so a video could be put together.

She's only running iMovie so I said I'd take it on. It steamrolled from something that should have taken 10 minutes to almost 2 hours work, I render and get set to upload the file - "hey I just got 2 new clips can you stick them in" the deadline had been yesterday morning  put them in but it jacked up my nice cuts in time with the music but fuck it, I'm done.

Send it out and upload it for it to premiere at the same time we'd be doing it in school on Wednesday and think "job done, after earlier int he week and this, that's me wrapping it up for the year."

Check my e-mails and the Depute has asked if I can come in on Monday to help put data together for something she's struggling with *sigh*

Won't get funding for OU studying

When you wake up with chest ache ( not the lung type but the ‘i did chest presses yesterday at the gym’ type) and you have no idea where it came from

Sleep press ups?

Had to go into work today to help senior management team with some data stuff and discovered that my planned class of 2 pupils come August is now 1 as one of the girls has had her days switched - I literally, as it stands, have one pupil I will be teaching. Weird times.

Had to drop off some goodie bags and stuff for the school's charity after that. Was fun to see some of the kids but sad at the same time - they're all dying to get back to school.

Unless some I've made some horrible mistake with the data, that's pretty much me done for the year as we finish up on Wednesday.

It’s rather toasty up here. Sitting melting in my taxi. Even the airco is not making much of a difference.

Not that I am complaining

I also submitted my Masters application, waiting now for an interview
