Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

I am still working away. It’s still pretty quiet so I spend most of the time ba(s)king in the sun.

Also applying for jobs, although they are thin on the ground at the moment. The economy is tanking, and the creative industry is the first to suffer

Feeling like shite but it's more to do with too much work, too much DIY and not enough sleep thanks to the bastard cat rather than the Covids as I have none of the symptoms.

Not helped by getting a week to build a roadmap for a major update to a product that really needs more thinking about.

Really not impressed that the client handed it to the sales guys wanting a reply in 4 weeks and they don't bother to pass it to the engineering people who have to work out if it's even possible until 3 weeks into that 4 week window...
:Rage:

Mojo.

May I suggest NOT doing what a colleague, who was already on a shaky peg, did last week and fire off half a dozen rambling train of thought / is he on the beers? extremely passive aggressive e-mails about your two most senior managers to the whole staff email list

Kitchen is looking slick. Final coat tonight and it's done then just going over the gloss with a satin. I wait with baited breath for Mrs JBJ to clear enough shit out of her dump shit in room so I can actually get in to the skirting there :embarrassed:

Man I've had those so many times. Fuck those people.

Life's finally somewhat normal again here. I was supposed to have a beer with a friend for his birthday but one of his gf's students tested positive for Covid, so that's off

It's especially infuriating since the parents didn't feel too good, got themselves tested, but decided to send the kids to school anyway. So now about 30 people have their first 2 weeks of summer holiday ruined. Good fucking job.

Other than that, for me and the GF life's not much different than it would be otherwise. She can work in her studio, I always work at home, Finns hate being close together anyway, so apart from the occasional drunks, life doesn't seem different to us very much.

I'm on a return to work from Monday but I'll only be in 1 day per 2 weeks up till the end of the month then it's the Summer holidays.

We've to tie up loose ends for tracking and so on from this term (pretty sure I did it all before we shut but we'll see) and I've some management data stuff I'll need to produce but that's about it. We've been told not to even think about August because they have no idea what it's going to look like when we reopen to the kids.

Being honest I'm anxious about the thought of it, we've got A LOT of kids who are not going to cope well with any sort of change - I really think next year is going to be more about keeping a lid on things and supporting the kids getting things back to "normal" as opposed to teaching in any real capacity.

Well, the saga continues with the roadmap response. Got to be done by close of play tomorrow and of the four sections that need engineering responses, I've done 2 already, but just found the other guy on it doesn't know what to do and has done about a third of what he volunteered to pick up and guess who's got to fix it by tomorrow. Joy.

May be some beers drunk later but no emails to bosses... (@jbj )

What kind of project is it and how responsible are you?

I work in the UK rail industry is about as much as I can say about it at the moment. In terms of responsibility, I'm ok.

I was given a lot of actions (shared with two others). The management put one of the other guys on customer meetings all week (clever) so he's had no chance and the other guy who I mentioned is the manager who sat on this for 3 weeks before asking for responses so the buck stops with him. It's just frustrating as this was an opportunity to really go to town and do a job right that could actually make a difference to certain things. Instead it's being rushed out and won't be half as good as it could have been.

Anyway, thanks to the cat getting me up at 5.30am I've now fixed one of the sections and have a decent chance at getting the other done today as well.

Well my kitchen is done and looking super.

Even got round to putting mastic round all the little gaps where the backsplash didn't sit flush with the wall - disgusting job, only thing I think I've ever done worse was using black grout for kitchen tiles years ago :(

Anyway that's it done, onto the glossing.

Life has a way of kicking you in the balls when you dare to feel happy for a minute.
