Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

So funny story... I decided to buy myself a "new" (by which I mean second hand) acoustic guitar for my birthday. Not a super-super expensive one, but a bit nicer than the one I've had for the past 30 years. Obviously going round guitar shops and trying loads out was out of the question but after a LOT of thought I settled on buying one of the more affordable Korean-made Avalon guitars. (Avalon are a Northern Irish company that made Lowden guitars, but closed its doors a few years ago. The guitars they hand-made in Ireland cost thousands.) I'd tried one out in Ireland about a decade ago and still remember how amazed I was at the sound it produced. Anyway, I found one on Reverb and the price was right. Asked the seller a few questions and everything was good. I got his reply the night before my birthday, so decided to sleep on it and order it on my birthday if I felt good about it. Woke up and decided it was what I wanted and went to pay and it had literally sold while I was sleeping. :flamemad:

Sorry Stu.

Ha, no worries, but thank you. It was my own fault. Should've just pulled the trigger as soon as he replied. I just thought the chances of anyone buying it overnight was so small and it would be nice to buy it actually on my birthday. I'm sure others will come up.

Roasting today!

Went on a bike ride, felt so good although I am knackered. Cold beer and chinese food now!

It's a double edged sword having a job I can do from home. First and most important I can keep paying the bills and keep a roof over my family's heads. The flip side of it is when the weather is bloody great like today I can't just sit in the garden for the afternoon as I need all my computer gear to do my job. By the time I'm finished working the family all want a piece of me and sitting outside chilling out isn't happening. Meh.

can’t work on laptop?

but yeah, sucks! I am working tomorrow. Roasting in a sweaty taxi

I had to turn the hot tub down :embarrassed:

Beautiful day and I spent it largely inside editing a video for work.

Not easily. Power is one thing plus I'm running two external screens to my laptop plus full size keyboard and mouse so just down to the laptop would be a big restriction. Also doing a load of confidential video calls that I'd rather our nosey neighbours didn't hear.

Mojo for the taxi, hope your aircon is working.

That’s a shame you can’t work outside

well, it’s raining here this morning and not so warm. Looks like it’s about to clear up though...

Still scorchio here. :panic:

I've set up a full office on my balcony. Power and ethernet running outside. It's nice. I could bring a second monitor out but am resisting as I'm managing fine just on the Mac. Meetings are a bit of problem but more to do with I don't want to disturb my neighbours too much. But since their kids are waaaaay nosier than me I let the guilt pass :embarrassed: I do at least use headphones so they only hear me.

Btw rant: It’s become obvious that the majority of the British public are morons. My gf lives near the beach and the amount of people the past 2 days that have flocked to the beach en masse is ridiculous.

“Never mind corona virus, gotta get my tan on”

Completely agree with you. Now if only Covid-19 was selective enough to just get rid of the idiots, I wouldn't mind so much.

I'm working on my laptop indoors. Can't really imagine taking it out to the garden. Still enjoying taking (sometimes extended) lunch breaks to enjoy the weather. Also, it's nice being able to get the laundry out when it's a good day, which I wouldn't really be able to do if I was in the office.

Also, for those that remember my rant the other day about the guitar I was going to buy for my birthday falling through, I found another one last night. Didn't waste any time in buying it this time! Should be here in a week or so. :)

HNGOCIAWOSD Stu :thu:

I fear I'm turning into one of those grubby ladder climbers I used to hate :embarrassed:

Spent the week putting together a video for the new 1st year kids to see a bit more of the school and the staff since our transition programme is now dead and buried.

It went live yesterday - boss WhatsApps me this morning (another precarious situation I'd rather not be a part of given the other chats I've got going on there with friends!) "video is excellent, thanks so much - you're taking the day off I don't even want you checking e-mails"

So I instantly go and start checking e-mails and I'll going to be dropping in on our 100 points club social time thing between 2 and 3 on Google Classrooms

Well that's that over and done with - 1 kid checked in. If there was a bunch of them I could have ducked out but I felt kind of bad so hung around chatting.

Prepped everything for dinner, just need to stick the pressure cooker on so going to blast out a quick p90x 3 workout, shower and then get shit faced the rest of the night :embarrassed:

Quiet around here, you've not all caught the covid have you?!?

Did I ever mention that my dad is a painter decorator and I fucking HATE painting?!?!?

We're returning to work in some guise next week so having done all of the other jobs about the house, the last thing I need to get done is paint the kitchen and go over all of the glossing

There's not even any enjoyment in painting - I love most DIY and I like the accomplishment of a job well done but with painting I usually just get to a point where it's not totally shite and leave it at that.

It does give me a slightly better excuse to crack open the beers before lunch than "well it's lockdown int it?" :embarrassed:
