Return to the Planet of the "Hey Euro's its that time again" Thread.

I am actually looking forward to a football-less summer, pretty much burnt out on football.

I wish I could say the same about Brexit/Trump. Could we not all just collectively forget about them and just deny they ever happened? The world would be so much happier

Sometimes you still have hope for the UK

Just submitted my final bit of coursework for uni.

85 feckin pages all in when you add up the appendices and it's not even a dissertation.

Quite happy to tap out here with a postgrad. The idea 9f another 2-3 years of this to get an MEd fills me with dread.

Lager beers currently being ingested and I've been very staunch about it until I finished but I'll be unboxing my new amp tonight :thu:

Pretty sweaty in the taxi today. Only an hour to go, thinking of taking my daughter to the park this evening.

Will have a few REFRESHING LAGER BEERS later

I'm off to Paris for the weekend. I've only been once before but I don't remember much about it was a short visit and I was pissed the whole time.

I don't expect to be much the wiser about Paris come Monday :embarrassed:

Gig last night, had a great time. I think our 20 minutes set is just enough to make people interested and not too long for people to get bored.

I like mini-festivals with a few local bands and a few ‘bigger’ bands.

A couple of REFRESHING IRISH STOUT beers, making a bit of noise.... perfect gor a sunday night.

You know you are getting old though when you have severe muscle ache the next day from loading/unloading gear

In 1 month I will be drinking REFRESHING LAGER BEERS and having bbq near the beach...

This thought keeps me going doing this shit job. Despite suffering from an existential crisis and general ennui with life, I have now developed terrible road rage which I never had

Road rage is the best kind of rage :embarrassed:

Made pizza ourselves with the GF for the first time today. Kinda fun and not actually that much work.

Well, that's a bummer. Just got let down by the band I've been trying out for. 3 rehearsals and the drummer and other guitarist have decided I'm not what they are looking for to re-establish their old band.

Hold my hands up, I have been struggling to find time to practice and learn the material but I was making an effort and progress and thought it was going ok.

Out of those 3 practices, the bass player only turned up once so I think they may have a far bigger challenge getting their band going again. Never the most welcoming of people either compared to other bands I've been in/tried out for.

F*ck it, their loss. I shall learn from it and move on. At least it has kickstarted me playing guitar again.

Never a great feeling when you get turned down, but sounds like you might have dodged a bullet there.

From my personal experience, connecting with new bandmembers on a personal level is far more important than being a musical fit. You can practice to develop a musical connection, but if you don’t have a personal connection from the start, it will never last

I suspect you may well be right about dodging the bullet. They were polite enough but not exactly warm and welcoming. Circumstances were clearly different as well, I was the only one with kids, none of the others had ever had any so life experiences were clearly not shared. For those with kids, you'll know most of your time is not your own any more. As they've not been there, maybe they just couldn't get that the band doesn't necessarily come first.

Ah, summer has well and truly arrived in Scotland. Torrential downpour, flashfloods, thunder and lightning
