xmas party friday.

i have the choice of:

- drive and not drink
- take train, so I can drink. However, last train home is 11.15pm

It's our Christmas party tonight. Don't expect much sense from me tomorrow :embarrassed:

To be fair, do we ever?

Taxi out the question? Can't you get mate's rates as you were doing some Taxi driving if I remember?

I will be missing my work party as it's my band's last gig of the year. That's if I can kick the crappy cough and cold that decided to settle in last weekend...

My work night out is a week on Friday.

It's not a million miles away but difficult to get to with public transport and taxis will be rammed.

Plus I'm the only male going so that should be fun

Taxi will be out of the question: at that time of night, it will be about £70

If there is one annual event that I dislike more than the work Xmas do it has to be the wife's works Xmas do. It's this Saturday. Can't wait for Sunday.

Do you have to attend?

My Mrs actual Xmas nights out are staff only but the firm throw a winter ball in January - tenner a head in the Hilton and you get a 3 courses plus a decent whack of free booze. Always a great night.

I'm gigging it this year

"Everyone else will be bringing their partners." :embarrassed:
Turns out I'd got it wrong; it wasn't the works do as such, just a meal and evening out with her gang of friends (from work *shrugs*). Had a very enjoyable evening and far too much Chinese food.

So I decided to drive through to Edinburgh despite rather wanting to stay at home with a few beers.

Turned out, there was NOWHERE to park, everywhere is permit holders only. After driving around for an hour, already being late for start if dinner, getting into an argument with arsehole taxi driver, and still no parking spot, I decided to fuck it and drive home. Picked up a pizza and some REFRESHING BEERS and had a lovely night alone in the house

I was gigging at the Caves on Saturday night.

That stretch from the bridge to the Grassmarket is always a riot at the end of the night but fuck me it was like the end of days at 2am.

Yeah never drive in edinburgh. Although I lived there for 8 years or so I still never quite understood the locals hardon for trying to lord it over glaswegians - a much shitier driving experience, worse housing, vastly worse transport in general (apart from the buses, but only junkies and the elderly use buses in glasgow. Take the train...oh) and hordes of cunt tourists and oxbridge failures flouncing around.

They have more good pubs for decent ale though, I'll give them that.
