Last book I finished reading before surgery. Hopefully it won’t be too long before I’m able to read as ‘normal’. Fingers crossed.

Serge Diaghilev, the Russian impresario and founder of the Ballets Russes, is often said to have invented modern ballet. In this poetry debut Mosab Abu Toha writes about his life under siege in Gaza, first as a child, and then as a young father. A survivor of four brutal military attacks, he bears witness to a grinding cycle of destruction and assault, and yet, his poetry is inspired by a profound humanity.

Just finished The Code Breaker on the discovery of CRISPR. The moral and ethical implications of the technology was the most interesting part of the book

Oh good grief. I’d assumed that you were thinking either Anne Boleyn or Mary, Queen of Scots. And hey — same era, same city, even the same family. Could cut you some slack there.

But now it’s a different story. Different nations, different clothes, 200 years apart. It’s harder to cut some slack now. :sad:

Sonny Rollins has long been considered an enigma. Known as the “Saxophone Colossus,” he is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest jazz improvisers of all time, winning Grammys, the Austrian Cross of Honor, Sweden’s Polar Music Prize and a National Medal of Arts. In 1959, Rollins took a two-year sabbatical from recording and performing, practicing up to 16 hours a day on the Williamsburg Bridge. In 1968, he left again to study at an ashram in India. He returned to performing from 1971 until his retirement in 2012. 

The story of Sonny Rollins—innovative, unpredictable, larger than life—is the story of jazz itself, and Sonny’s own narrative is as timeless and timely as the art form he represents. It's a 100 page murder mystery...... but each page is a separate sheet of paper... and they're not in order. :messedup:

There have been a handful of people to correctly put the 100 pages in the correct order... but I think it will be an interesting read for an A.D.D. riddled brain that loves puzzles and has difficulty internalizing the passage of time. Digesting this should match up fine with my mosaic mind. :helper:
