These pickups aren't the soapbar ones. Also, the LP has the Alnico Classic Humbuckers. My other LP has Pearly Gates pickups in it. I'm looking for a totally different sound with the p90-type. I take it the Seymours will be sufficiently different than the Gates, and the Alnico's are probably closer to the Gates, and are worth swapping out. Also, may just leave the beast as is.

Yeah, the phat cat is a true single coil. Way different than your humbuckers. Much more clarity. O

Assuming they both sounded good, that is. I'll take a player over a looker any day, especially if the ugly one is as nice as that one there, cuz it ain't bad. Just not as nice as the other.

Do those particular bursts have names? Bourbon, squirrel fur, royal fuzz?

They just don't photograph well. They are both really nice looking. Gibson calls them heritage cherry sunburst.
