OMG Politics, I'm over it already.

Today's money is on Cory Booker. But there will likely be a lot of opportunities in the next four years for some deep bencher to make him/herself known as a vocal critic of the GOP's time in charge.

Booker is a good pick. So is Warren. Either one will need a red state democrat to run with. That's gonna be tough.

Jon Tester, MT? For running mate?

Tester should be the candidate. Montana is a low population state without much politics to speak of. So he doesn’t come with much baggage.

Booker would be destroyed by character assaasination scandals ginned up from Newark political messes. The GOP has already started on this. And Warren is a paper tiger like Rand Paul. She’s good at ranting and introducing symbolic legislation that won’t get passed. But that’s not going to win her the nomination, much less the general election.

in 3 days it will be the anniversary of JFK's assination.

i have to believe he is spinning in his grave.

"ask not what your country can do for you................"

"no great nation has ever taxed itself into prosperity...."

Ok, then I say Tester, who is from a Red state, is a wheat farmer, and is able to get elected there, with someone like Warren as a running mate. I had the honor of attending a Pearl Jam concert held at University of Montana in Missoula, in his honor and as a benefit. He seems to have a practical view. He is old time friends with Jeff Ament's family. He could be a good choice due to his ability to speak to hard scrabble people in MT, and otherwise.

BTW, it was a bitchin' concert in a cool little old fieldhouse/basketball gym. So much fun.

PS, Tester, as a farmer, observes the land. I believe he will have observed the effects of climate change, and will understand how dire it could be for food production, etc. Here is his statement on the subject. http://www.tester.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=3436 I bet he could, if willing to run, speak to people in "the middle" about why this matters.

This, from a friend of mine's feed regarding climate change:

Wayne Jason I can't stand idiots who deny that climate change is real and caused by man. I have an 'edge up' on most people...I have a close friend who is the top atmospheric scientist at JPL who is either the only person, or one of the only people on the planet with his computers on a space satellite orbiting the earth collecting data on CO-2 emissions. I've had long talks with him about the computer mock ups of the globe with topographical maps, etc. He can tell you what cities and probably which factories are emitting how much CO-2 into the atmosphere. I can tell you that three years ago when we spoke, the earth 'spewed out' 10 gigatons of carbon into the air. Since the oceans and forests absorb half (25% each), 5 gigatons were absorbed, but 5 more gigatons of carbon were put out into our atmosphere contributing to the problem. He is also one of the top members of the National Academy of Scientists. This is why 95% of the top scientists from the top 26 industrialized nations are unanimous that man is causing this problem and the idiots who don't believe science, like that Brian Howell jerk above(in this facebook feed), make my friend laugh. He can't believe that when scientists graduate M.I.T., the University of Copenhagen, Stanford, and the top universities in the world, and spend two, three, four decades of their life studying the atmosphere for J.P.L. NASA, the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, the National Academy of Sciences, etc. that people who don't know SHIT about it like to throw out idiotic opinions. AMAZING!!!!

Not only is tester a farmer, but he has a music degree from the University of Great Falls. He really is a working class guy.

But he has to do something about that awful haircut. He looks like a gym teacher circa 1956. And he was born in 1956.

Unfortunately with the internet, every Joe now thinks he knows everything and 'experts' and 'scientists' can be dismissed as being paid to say whatever they are told and can't be trusted.

I know now that 'Beaner' is a derogatory term for Mexican, but I had never heard that term until the controversy over the Beaner Coffee Shop name. Seriously. I guess it's not used here in the mid-west, at least not widespread usage.

I don't think many of us white people here thought anything about the name 'Beaner' for a coffee shop. After all, coffee comes from beans, hence 'Beaner'.
