What you're saying is that the Libertarian party is identical to the GOP on economics, which is another reason they're well-placed to be the ideological successor for conservative politics in America.

Check your calendar- it's 2016. There aren't any Yippies anymore, either. Occupy and the Tea Party both started around the same time as a reaction to the same economic problems, and were both unfocused and unsophisticated. While Occupy died a natural death, the Tea Party received massive infusions of cash from right wing donors and was eventually taken over by GOP extremists with enough organizational knowledge to keep it a going concern.

Today's "extreme" left wing politics were mainstream American politics of the 1940s, while today's extreme right wing politics were those of fascist dictatorships of the 1940s.

Occupy did not die a "natural death". It was utilized by Sanders to make an almost unprecedented run to the Democratic nomination and given legitimate input into the DNC platform for 2016. It responded to this remarkable graciousness by unloading a bazillion Dank "Hillary is a murderer" memes and attempting to nuke the Convention.

If it is dead...and lets hope. It was suicide.

I don't think that's necessarily true or fair. Communism has never really been put into practice. It's designed as an evolutionary step for strong and stable societies - think Canada and the Scandanavian countries - whereas it's been implemented in nations that are politically and economically unstable, ravaged by civil war, lacking industry, lacking basic services and infrastructure, large parts of the population dirt poor and starving, etc. - perfect breeding ground for military coups, dictatorships, etc. Communism isn't really antithetical to having democratic rule.

i am completely ok with anyone baiting trump into loosing his temper, shooting off his mouth and showing everyone just exactly what he REALLY thinks and wants to do. the more often and more radical he goes off on folks, the more likely he will loose in a land slide.

i'm not a friend of either clinton, but at least she's been in the W.H. and knows how things are supposed to work. as opposed to it being an extension of 'the apprentice'. (YOUR FIRED!!!)

i was thinking more like USSR, East Germany, China, etc.
 
A big part of the problem isn't Trump/Clinton, it's simple partisan voting. You've got roughly half (probably more) of the voting population who will always vote for "their party" regardless of who's running.

Sure we are seeing some defections this year, but the Dems could run Jesus himself and 25% of the population would still automatically vote republican.

Absolutely. When I lived in Florida I worked for the public school system. Most of the people I worked with voted Republican which seemed crazy to me. They sat around bitching that they hadn't gotten a raise in 3 years and there wasn't enough money to hire more people so their workloads were increasing. It made as much sense a a multi-billionaire voting for a socialist candidate. After Rick Scott (R) was elected governor, they all started bitching about all the cuts he was making. I asked if they had listened to anything he said while he was campaigning because he was following through on his campaign promises. Of course they didn't, they just pulled the lever with the R next to it. Say what you want about Scott, but he didn't hide the fact he was a douchebag or what he was going to do once elected.

Although I'm sure many former Occupy members wound up in the Sanders camp, the idea that the Occupy movement itself was in any way responsible for or meaningfully involved in his campaign is ludicrous. As far as I can tell, OWS today is no more than a web page and a handful of diehards who show up to protest everything anyway. And no one tried to "nuke" the convention.

On the other hand, the Tea Party has been critical to Trump's success.

I don't think Clinton has much of a shot at NC, but what she can do is force Trump to spend valuable resources here to make sure she doesn't squeak past him.

first, i don't watch fox news. second, i didn't say anything about socialism OR sanders. please stop making assumptions.

i said "communists - facsists..............tomato - tomaato". meaning one evil political system is the same as another in that they both end up enslaving the people.

I've read Animal Farm, which in reality is what any attempt at communism turns out to be. People are selfish, and the most clever ones will game the system to their advantage.
