I've noticed that the NRA has been strangely quiet about Philando Castile. I'd think they'd have a whole lot to say about a man executed for legally carrying a concealed weapon.

As much as I hate the organization, I don't think that they typically make press releases the same day.

They will, as soon as they feel it benefits them.

A few teenagers with Walmart rifles could technically have pulled off the same feat.

Listening to the recordings on NPR this morning, at least one of the shooters was using a semi-automatic.

It's getting to the point where I think the union should be dissolved. There is absolutely no compromise between left and right anymore, so dissolve the union and let the states assemble with other like minded states.

My oldest wants Ireland (and I would love it too), so we'd be in for that. Ideally it would be an English speaking country, but if not I will do my damnedest to learn the common tongue (my only conservative lameness, that people should adapt to the primary language of the countries in which they choose to live). From and aesthetic prespective Greece has some wonderfully lovely areas, but their financial situation is horrid. Regarding English speaking nations, England has swung far too conservative for my tastes. Canada would actually be the easiest, if they'd just offer us some work and not just the opportunity to live there.

I really don't feel the need to flee anywhere. I feel plenty safe & have the luxury of living in communities that are not plagued by violence/street/drug crime. As a middle class middle age white dude, I have it pretty good.

I took 3 years of Spanish and worked in a restaurant where most of the people spoke it. I think I could easily become fluent if I was there. Plus there are apps now that translate on the fly for you until you get the language down.

As of now...lone shooter, black, ex-army, killed by "robot bomb". Some reports of 2-3 others in custody but the Dallas Police Chief was fairly explicit at the news conference.
