I would love to see a constitutional amendment where defaults that close the federal government result in an electoral 'misdeal' and everyone elected to Congress gets fired. We could call it the 'Do your fucking job, assholes' amendment.

ANY Congressperson who's job it is to run/manage/fund our government, yet advocates shutting it down, should be remembered when they run for re-election. Country first, political party second, or better yet, last.

Time to dust off an oldie but goodie...

I'm against all incumbents. I never vote for the guy in office, even if I voted to put them there. Politicians need to know that they're public servants. THe only way to do that is vote for opposition and third party candidates. The sooner they get used to fearing for their jobs, the better.

I have tried to remain positive today, keep my eye on the ball with regard to my day, and not focus on this whole mess. Not gonna help anyway. But I will confess that there were a couple times today where I would not have minded heading up to Eddie's place to join him in this centering activity.

I prayed about this when I woke up. The thing that bothers me the most is that many of us have to live paycheck to paycheck and we never seem to get ahead. The American dream has become a lease and those of us lucky to own a piece of it are on a second mortgage

This. I live from paycheck to paycheck AND have 3 years left on a home equity loan...on a house I no longer live in. All who call me an idiot for doing this, bring it on. I hear it all the time.

Politicians should get paid the same way we do when we do jury duty. A few bucks for lunch. Maybe then they wouldnt spend so much time trying to please businesses or special interests who donated tons of money so they could be in office. Maybe they would focus on serving their country instead of keeping their job.
