Now that we're into a couple weeks of Corvfefe what have you been creating in the kitchen?

Dogue in teh desert
I'm still making traditional stuff like chocolate chip cookies, dal's and miso soup with udon noodle but the other day I substituted some spiral shaped pasta thingies in place of egg noodles for my beef stroganoff. i also forgot top buy shrooms' in the madness that was the grocery store so I just put together the pasta the beef, the sourcream and added some beef broth together and pretended it was stroganoff. We need to get creative in these times.

How abot you?

Nothing has really changed for us so far except no adhoc runs to the store for an ingredient I don’t usually keep on hand because I feel like making something unusual

After not cooking much at all for months before all this I've gone back to (my hippie roots) basics - beans and rice (from dried beans, cooked in the pressure cooker), lotsa sourdough.

I had to go to the grocery store three days in a row because my wife wanted leeks and nothing else would do. Finally found a store that had them on Saturday.

WHO THE HELL IS BUYING ALL THE GOT-DANG LEEKS?

Anyway, business as usual in our kitchen, except we're making double-sized batches and freezing most of it for later. Potato leek soup, chicken tetrazzini, and some random Italian thing I threw together with leftovers.

I made a leek, cheddar and bacon gratin the other night. It was LOVELY :embarrassed:

We've just been doing the usual - finding stuff we like online and making what we fancy.

I have gone bonkers with my Ninja Foodi though - been messing about with air frying and pressure cooking a lot of stuff - I made an amazing butter chicken curry, air fried southern chicken and coca cola pulled pork in the past few weeks.

Going to try bread in it when we run out of actual bread :thu:

We roasted a turkey on Sunday, and last night had turkey casserole. I think tonight it may be turkey sandwiches or perhaps I'll make some gravy from the drippings and have turkey and gravy. We also froze two bags of turkey meat in the freezer.

Today I busted out a couple chickens we bought Sunday. Turns out they’re Cornish game hens.

Anyway, they’re tasty birds and I’m grillin’ ‘em. There won’t be leftovers, but hopefully enough for the three of us.

I made naan for the first time--very good. I did a tamale-dumpling thing. Mostly I'm baking traditional stuff with Child and burning through the stuff I had piled up in the freezer.

A ribeye for tonight, and a bottom round rump roast for tomorrow. Tomorrow morning I'm hitting the fish monger for some octopus to try out sous vide.

Tonight I’m going to do surf and turf. I loaded up on steak before things got crazy and I still have two lobster tails in the freezer. I think I’ll make a load of French bread to go with it.

That just made me feel a bit sick - both the steak and the nick of his kitchen

I'm quite fortunate (#blessed) to live with a great cook who loves good food. Our meals have been similar to pre-virus days, though with less seafood and salad. More large-meat dishes, so that we can have leftovers and minimize trips to the store.

We made pulled pork BBQ 2 days ago, which then turned in to pork and butternut chili last night. Cornish games hens 4 nights ago became the broth for chicken soup the following day. And so on... She's used to going to the store once a day, so this has been an adjustment. We've been grilling a lot too, and eating burgers and dogs now and then, which we didn't do before.

My wife has been doing A LOT more cooking which is nice for a change.
