NO SPOILERS: I am about to see teh Star War

I saw it last night. I enjoyed it.

I agree there was no time to breathe. It was pretty much ACTION ACTION ACTION. On the other hand, there wasn't anything I thought should have been edited out... certainly no Casino Planet or Republic Senate sequences.

It felt like part of this movie's "mission" was to clean up the galactic continuity mess made by the previous movie. They did that pretty well, I thought. Yeah, there were still a lot of things that were a stretch. Overall, the number of "Oh come on" horseshit moments was way less than I've come to expect from all the modern-era Star Warseses.

The other movies set this one up well by lowering my expectations.

I'm skeptical they are going to stop after this movie. I guess we'll see.

I really enjoyed it. The palpatine stuff was fun and looked great. Quite a few moments that made my eyes well up. Luke’s Xwing, my favorite toy growing up? Come on!

Riding horsie back to attack a star destroyer was pretty horrendous though. Finn sucks.


Watching my son eat 12 tons of popcorn while being completely dazzled for 2.5 hours was priceless too.
 
I saw it this weekend.

I was entertained.

I didn't expend a lot of mental energy trying to place significance onto the movie.

I liked how the Skywalker story came full circle back to Tatooine.

I feel the same way about the entire trilogy. It’s clear that there was no plan going into these films other than cashing in on nostalgia. If it weren’t for the Star Wars brand these movies would have bombed at the box office.
 
My wife and I had a fun little argument about the ending.

I expressed my annoyance and my being totally sick of the ‘redemption’ narrative for characters who are mass-murderers, and how ‘the kiss’ makes it all ok.

She agreed up to the point on the kiss, where she countered that Rey, as a character, isn’t a judge herself and shouldn’t be judged for kissing anyone.

She’s not wrong, but...

Neither have I. I did see Rogue One.

I know people are gonna think 'why do you even come into a Star Wars thread if you don't watch them?', but I am honestly more interested in seeing the pink flamingo movie with Gary Blanchard's song in it than I am any of those Star Wars films. I just cannot muster the interest for them.

I watched 5 episodes of The Mandalorian, I'll probably watch the whole season.

I’ll end up seeing it, it’s just weird that we didn’t go see it in the theater. I kept mentioning to the kids and they didn’t really seem to care to go see it either so now we’ll catch it when it’s streaming.
 
I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but the last two films kind left me with a meh feeling too, the rewatchability is quite low for me, whereas I still enjoy rewatching episodes I-VI a lot. I even enjoy the prequel movies a bunch, and I have seen Episode III many times. These last couple of films just didn't make me want more like the originals did. I also hate how they invalidated all that was accomplished in the original trilogy.
