Yeah I like the ease of takedown with the Victory/Mk IV but for how much I have to take it apart it's not a deal-breaker. I bought various bricks of cheap 22lr the past few years, nothing great but I have a lot of it. I'll mainly shoot targets for fun with it, excited to shoot several mags without watching dollar signs fly downrange.
My plan this summer is to shoot 50 rounds out the Mark III each day without cleaning the gun. We'll see how long it keeps running.

I reload, so I see dollar signs, but shoot more.

I still have the ruger mki bull barrel I got when I was 15. It is more accurate than I am.

I have a friend that just runs a bore snake though his at the end of a range session then sprays the bolt down w/ some non-chlorinated brake cleaner when it get too fouled up. He hasn't detailed cleaned it in years.

I have been loading .223 lately. It's a lot more work than straightwall handgun cartridges, that's for sure. And, technically 22 caliber, so...
yep....add a shoulder and neck to the equation and it's a whole 'nuther game.

try making 6mx284's out of win. 284's (7mm) and then add a .268 tight neck to the equation. LOTS of brass work.
but it puts 5 shots in a hole the size of a yellow pencil at 200 yards.
ya gets out what's ya puts in.:thu:

Yeah, sounds like a lot of work.

I was surprised how much work .223 was. Not only did I have to size, then trim the brass, I had to ream out the primer pockets with a drill press because they had a crimp ring.

you need to get a different brass make. i've never had to drill out primers in .223.
but, yea, when you get to the point that you're creating wild cat rounds, you're into a lot of work. i probably had, including 1 firing to fire form the brass and then neck size/clean/primer/powder/bullet seat, something like an hour or so per round. THEN i was ready to do some serious nailing.

this is a 25 foot air rifle target, i used them at 200 yards.

That's some damn good shootin'.

The brass I have are range pickups. All of them have a ring crimp. Pain in the ass.

well....i guess if they're free......

also, that rifle and precision handloads have taken groundhogs out at a half mile. been published in hunting magazines for some of them.
and that target's actual size 2"x2"

@wagdog
here, i just pic'ed it with the cell phone, for scale. the holes have been pressed closed a little from being in a photo album for years.

You could shoot a squirrel in the cornhole at 100 yards with that thing!
Impressive!

not to brag, but i have shot flies off my target at 200 yds, with others watching thru my 60x spotting scope. they didn't believe it until we went down the target and saw the 'guts' splatter around the hole
