NFL 2017-18 Thread

The defense forced a fumble. And the goal line area/end zone has numerous special rules that don't apply at the 40 yard line for example. It's a good rule...that unfortunately can occasionally benefit evil teams.

So after listening to sports radio today (not just local DC sports) and reading a bunch of articles, apparently you and Dallas Cowboy's fans are the only people in the world that don't think the rule is terrible. I've seen/heard some of them call it the worst rule in professional sports. That's pretty steep, and I say the worst rule is the way college football handles pass interference, but I'm not the only one, along with Raider's fans who think it sucks. BTW, I also thought it sucked when the Redskins beat the Ravens last season because of it.

Love to add this: bitching about a call is for losers.

If you think that’s why the Steelers lost, you’ve no idea about football.

The Steelers lack poise and discipline. That’s pretty much the cold, hard reality.

The fumble into and out of the end zone rule is pretty stupid too. How about, give the offense the ball back at the spot of the fumble. If he fumbled and it rolled out at the 2 inch mark, the Raiders would have maintained possession.

Man, I know you're not a Raiders fan, but there were so many shit calls/weird occurrences last night. Refs pulled Crabtree on the last play for concussion protocol. WTF? You see the smug look on that refs face on a few calls.

Bottom line, Carr should have gone out of bounds. He scores, he's a hero, but.......he's lucky he didn't have 2-3 more ints. Tavecchio's missed chip shot FG-I knew that would bite them later.

Last year, we had things go our way, this year, not so much. I just hate the officiating more year after year. They are just not plaoff material this year. At least Collinsworth was sympathetic, which over 10 or so years, I could never admit.

Brady has been in the league long enough that he tucks the ball in to take the hit, no extension.

You need to show the tuck after the TD has been made.

Also no defenders are around.

@Chad - you were waiting for someone to respond weren't you????

nope, not waiting for a response

The article I quoted said Bill would bench a player for extending the ball. He didn't say, if a player extends the ball and then tucks it they are fine he didn't mention anything about defenders being around (not really sure what you mean by that). The quote was

I was merely pointing out that if Brady did it, Bill probably isn't going to bench him. I would just love to see it play out.

Bravo....

So, there is apparently some sort of mathematical possibility for the Seahawks to make the playoffs. But frankly, I think they are better off if they don't. They are in no shape to survive the playoffs, and further injuries will just make things worse. And the risk to RW. The Legion of Boom is aging and battered. Some may not be back. I think they should trade Graham. Nice experiment, and overall he has been consistent. But I just don't think he fits the team's needs. They need a TE that can block. And the salary is just too much to carry and fix the other problems. Such as the O-line, aging defense, and lack of consistent running offense. RW was pretty much 3/4 of the offensive output alone for some of these last games. He cannot do it alone, and certainly not when there is no protection.

I am not jumping on the "Seahawks are done" as a competitive team bandwagon. Always a fan. But for longer run success, some issues are going to need to be ironed out. Not sure of the answers, but major re-booting seems necessary.

Welcome to the bottom of the NFC West. We saved you a spot right next to SF.
