National Hockey League 2018-2019

As for the rest, it is what it is. Those are the rules as applied this season. Of course this could change, but the games are played and officiated as per the current rules. You can't apply the rules in place in the 70's to a game played today. Can we examine them and their positive/negative impact? Of course. But until and unless the owners and commissioner decide to change the rules, it's nostalgia for a bygone time. Not unlike my preference to go back to the days of a taller mound, no DH and sanitary socks for all in baseball.

Yeah, I'm new to hockey fandom, but that doesn't make me stupid or unable to understand the game and it's nuances. In fact there is an argument to be made that my viewpoint is not encumbered by nostalgia or a distorted view of 'how it should be'. It's not that I'm not interested in the history, because I am. But being talked down to by a 'lifelong fan' isn't really educational either. At least not in the way you would like it to be.

I think tone got lost ... I was poking fun at me/myself etc. Nah, the Bruins are a rough team, and aside from Kadry the Executioner, I think they more or less get what's coming to them.

Seriously, the forced "wE dU Tu HaVe a hIsToRy/TrAdItiON" shit is beyond embarrassing. Teams need to build their own culture, like the Seahawks did in football.

Canes are garbage, dead Whales with a huge portion of fans who can't tell hockey from wrestling.
 
Every team has great fans. And I don't get on a team - at all - when people don't show (see: Tampa Rays). Not their fault, esp. when they play hard, and do what they can.

But seriously - are you shitting me? Get a clue. Half of the dimwits in the Canes' barn didn't know what hockey was in December. (Do us both a favor before yammering a response and check their game by game attendance). Whereas you have teams in Tampa, Nashville, Columbus, etc., who certainly are in non-traditional hockey markets, but show real support for their team and love of the game.

"Real Canes fans" are probably as bitter at the half-assery of their team as old Whalers fans used to be. Appropos.

The Canes can't play, so they try to bring the physical. Soon enough, Backes or Carlo or Acciari (and Carolina should be nervous that he returns) is going to let Ferland know his shit isn't tax-free, and it's going to hurt. I nominate Backes, as he'd likely be a healthy scratch in some games.
