Meh. 80% of that movie features Jason being in places that are not Manhattan. It’s like how they never seem to learn the lesson that people go to Godzilla movies because they want to see Godzilla, not because they want to see desperate and exasperated oceanographers stress out and get gaslit for 90 minutes.

The Naked City is another great one.

Can’t believe that we all forgot about King Kong.

And while a few Scorsese movies have been mentioned, he’s made a ton of great NYC films, including 19th-century shit like Gangs of New York and The Age of Innocence. Bringing Out the Dead, Raging Bull, The Wolf of Wall Street...most of his filmography is NYC.

Once Upon a Time in America is severely underrated.

There have been a ton of great LA/Hollywood movies too. The Player was great. Singin’ in the Rain is great enough that it could probably be described as transcendental. But I kinda feel that virtually all of that good will has been negated by the noxious La La Land.
