Just a note about why I will no longer be posting my lessons on Harmony Central

No offense taken, I mysef was being unecessarily harsh.
And I posted before I had any caffeine or anything.

I guess the reason I was more upset is the ones that posted were more "guitar owners" than "guitar players" taking over the place.

Play what you like (heck, I like Mezzofist, anyone heard of them? They're the farthest away band from the Wes Powell experience ever I'd wager) but PLAY.
Don't lean up against the bar and pretend you're cool and then don't play anything because you can't. It's easy to pontificate from a keyboard though.

But this isn't about ME.

But what it comes down to perhaps is I'd wager that Mark was starting to gain what they call MINDSHARE - I guess it did look like Mark was an admin posting those things and maybe they didn't like that he set-up a "competing shop" (from their viewpoint).

(Hell they'd be lucky to have Mark as an admin but I don't make these decisions).

And that's a testament to the quality of the posts and the way they were presented - still, it was a benefit for them and if they don't like it I guess that's the way it goes.

And to show that I like "bash 'em up" music as much as anything you can check this out: http://pod.ath.cx/vg99/first23/Punque.mp3
I need someone to write/sing lyrics for it though.

Well, you gotta go where you like.

I value musicians as much as anyone, but I'd have gotten bored of GJ long ago if it weren't for the "guitar owners" who were frequently better-versed in music history, criticism, aesthetics, philosophy, politics, etc.

I, for one, refuse to take sides on that one. I mean, what do I have to prove?

I'm not entirely sure what this even means -- or how you fact check this sort of assumption if you mean what I think you mean.

Frankly, I don't really feel like super getting into it today. BUT I think there's a certain amount of elitism, genre-based self-satisfaction, and generational conflict bottled up in these sorts of accusations. Our little group has always been, etc., etc., etc.

Hi. I'm bent. Go away?

Before everyone gets too David Icke with the conspiracy theories from what I've been able to determine this wasn't an HC admin decision. I've been trying to get to the bottom of this in the HC Office but as you might imagine admin are a bit busy at the moment. What administrators I have spoken to however know nothing about any of this and are all "huh? what?". The person who PMed Mark seems to have made the decision themselves, I'm guessing as a result of complaints from other forumites. It's not some official diktat from Musician's Friend.

If this turns out to be the just of the situation, we need the name to be leaked. Else, how shall we know to plot against? Seems logical to me.

I've heard it said that DKH has some pretty impressive PM-box hacking skills.

Okay, to clarify things somewhat:

Neither Musicians Friend nor the Harmony Central admin team told Mark to stop posting his lessons.

What did happen was (I believe after complaints from forumites) a moderator asked Mark not to post threads directing traffic to his website. He wasn't asked to "not post lessons", it's cool to post lessons. What he was asked to do was not to post threads directing traffic to his business website.

Posting youtube lessons = cool. Posting (and cross-posting) "today's lesson is now available at my website" = not cool.
