I wrote an article/interview about this that Premier Guitar Magazine had no interest in. They were more interested in what kind of guitar straps he used. Fuck them.

I'm a responsible journalist so I covered it anyway. I'm an intrepid guitar reporter that asks the tough questions. It's how I roll.

Here it is:

that was VERY cool! thanx VERY VERY much for sharing that.

and yeah FUCK EM for not being interested in such a great article!

Dio sounds like Ozzy. I've heard that RR was going to leave Ozzy for the same reason. Paid sideman and no split of the album/gate sales.

As to studio musicians, I've always heard that a lot of the guitar parts on Motley Crue's album 'Shout At The Devil' were done by a studio pro, but MC & Mick Mars have always denied that. Who knows?

It might just be a mobile thing, but I got a 404 page not found when I clicked the link.

@OGG, were you also trying to view it through Tapatalk? Looks like Tapatalk did something to the link that viewing it straight from the site didn't do. Link worked fine.

^ yeah, on my PC it worked fine. Cool article.

It's a good article. The only thing I can say is that most PG interview articles tend to be fairly long, probably 2.5-3 times that length. THAT may have been the issue at hand.

I know exactly what the issue was because I was there. They wanted mundane shit about straps and picks and the new live Def Leppard album. The original ideas was a double interview with Vivian and Phil Collen. I had to go back and redo the whole thing. They had no interest in justice.

Enjoy.

Bass parts were, done by Steve Bailey.

I think he's referring to the business setup, not the music.

Almost exactly from some of what I remembering hearing. It was Ronnie's wife that was managing things and using the same disrespectful and shitty business model as Sharon Osborne. If you've read the GW interview ith Jake E. Lee he explains about people telling him that they were sorry to hear lost his job, so he calls Sharon and says he's hearing these crazy rumors and she's like "Oh my God. Yes it's true, you're fired."

I think it was common to the time and still happens, but it's a total shit way to do business. Especially since Sharon knows how tenuous Ozzy's career was after Sabbath. We think of both guys as legends now, but after their Sabbath stints they weren't guaranteed any lasting career. It was Sabbath that was the draw, and for Ronnie Rainbow/Blackmore prior. I just think it would have been better for everyone if the massive musical contributions of the musicians was acknowledged and duly compensated at the time of said creation. As it stands the only guy that seems to gotten a good deal with Ozzy was Zakk. With Ronnie? Who knows. Amazing freaking singer though.
