I think I've just heard the best strat replacement pickup ever this morning.

I'm a big fan of the Bareknuckles - I've got one in the bridge of a Strat and a set of P90s in my SG.

... I showed a mate of mine the Sliders clip though - I may have managed to persuade him to order a set. He's going to ask his wife first... if he does I hope to be able to check them out and report...!

I thought he had the '69's but he actually has the '59 SRV set. And those were the ones I really like. He's bringing the guitar back next week for me to try again ( he brought his tele the past couple of lessons).

:hmm:

Well, I think I might have found my threshold for expensive pickups. Unless I can find some used online.

These are awesome. Best strat pickups I've ever heard.

But I'm not spending that kind of money.

I am a firm, firm believer than NO strat set should cost over $180, EVER. And it shouldn't. And I think a lot of the times we hear "the perfect strat pups", it's half in our head, the space, the amp, etc. Winders are selling simple strat sets for multiple hundreds now...kinda silly, really. Yeah, your source of magnets, the same as most, are so much better. And the fine line between 20 winds more or less than other pickups is the key. I don't think so.

I pretty much agree with this but my threshold is about $200 give or take. FWIW I think the Fender custom shop 69's sound amazing as well but I could just be tone deaf.

7:15 sounds acceptable to me.

While I don't think I share your guys aesthetic about strat pickups I'm thinking that I'm interested in checking out the CS 69.

Before you do that check out the guy who trades under the name Illusion pickups. I have a set of his 69 analogues, and I can't really tell the difference

man, there are so many people making pickups anymore!

I'll do a Youtube search in a bit. Thanks!

For me to spend $500 on a set of pickups I'd have to try them out side by side with their rivals, not just view a few Youtube clips and then order them off a MySpace page...

Myspace... vintage correct!

They just deleted all the old myspace content without warning existing users (all 12 of them) and rolled out "new" myspace.

I actually just got my situation with the McFeely sorted out last night. Apparently my problem was not wiring the guitar like this:

Now with the 470k resistors and the treble bleed is sounds just like my SUhr Classic, but with a little sharper attack on the note. I don't "need" to get new pickups now that I have this sorted out but its really tempting.
